Todd (member Washerlover) from Phoenix was here on business so he stopped in for Saturday night wash-in. His all time favorite washers are the 12lb style Norge and Ward machines. I had one in storage so I pulled it into the workshop before he arrived. The entire thing was locked up, but 45 minutes of TLC brought it back to life...

This is a 1959 or 1960 model, I'm not sure which. It has the very first lint filter agitator design that pumped water up through its center, but the first Norge design pumped the water straight up towards the cap, not outwards like later designs...

WOW!!!COOL!!! Just like what my mom had-that shiny metal lint pan-burpilator-loved watching it as a little kid-your picturs brought back memories from long-long ago-had to stand on tiptoes to see.

Robert, I'd forgotten about this pair from the Oklahoma runs. Glad I finally got to see the washer up-close.

Burpalation

I love how we make up words for the various actions of our machines.

Robert This is a very cool machine. Was this a time fill. I notice on the timer it only has a 8 minute wash and no provision for fill. Also what is that button on the right next to the dial for? Real nice job!

Everything from the agitation to the colour combination is way cool on that Norge! And to think....it was so close to me. I'll take one to go please! ;-)

The machine actually is a metered fill machine, water overflows into the outer tub and a sensor starts agitation. The timer allows up to 10 minutes of wash in the Normal cycle. The little button to the right is the water saver button, it stops fill and starts agitation if you wish to have less than a full tub of water.

YAY for Norge

Neat machine, and in sunny yellow no less!

Great "Art Deco" design on the first Burpalator! Must be something to watch if it shoots the water straight up...and check out the suds!

Very good now that there are at least two 1950's Norge machines left in existence...and I have an idea what the next Oklahoma machine covered here will be! ;-)

very nice indeed

Robert, the water looks "bubbly" like sq aerated fill. Is it? Very very nice. Thanks Arthur.

Very Cool!

Robert
That is such a great looking machine!
I love the color of the tub.
I also like that agitator.
What is your thoughts on it's burping the lint into the filter? It looks so dramatic from the pictures.
How much different is the transmission and stroke / spin from your other Norge?
I think that it is such a cute machine. I had forgot you found it.
Are you going to keep this one?
Thanks for the pictures.
Brent

I love that Pan filter system. And those Knockulator fins would scare the dirt out! There must be 7 pounds of bakelite in each fin!
