I just found this set For Sale on Craigslist - posted on October 19th.

Add reads: "1960's era Maytag clothes Washer & Dryer. These appliances worked when they were disconnected. The Dryer is electric (220v), not gas. Both in great condition, manual included. $150 or best offer. Buyer to pick up. Seller will not ship."

I'm going to Detroit on November 4th to pick up Michael's (gedish1947) GE Electric Sink and other dishwashers, but won't have room for this nice set.

Mike

I love the large dryer. Haven't seen it in anyone's collection.

I emailed them today to see if they were still available. They may find a good home. :)

An excellent vintage set. That washer is a real brute! It will clean the most dirty laundry throughly!
Best wishes, it will be good to see a "club" member rescue these!

Bajaespuma, let me see if I can squeeze the washer into my laundryroom... I won't be able to pick up both the machines if I can get the washer though...

Go figure! I purchased them on the 4th, thinking no one wanted them.
They are very clean extremely low hour units. Was told they were original to the 1963 home I got them from. The reason for the low hours: The woman hated automatics and used a Maytag wringer instead!
They were kept in a basement yet have no rust or damage, and look almost new still! The Washer is an A500 "Super Highlander" The Dryer an DE500.
I enjoy these units, but if someone can't live without them (I have'nt put them in place yet.) will let them go for what I paid for them.

The Maytag Magic

Funny thing, my Mother went to the laundromat for 34 years and in 1979 my Father purchased her a large capacity center dial fabricmatic Maytag. She had to have the BEST. And then she said she missed the laundromat and it was easier to get the laundry done all at once. So the Maytag was used maybe once a week until she passed in 1993. Then it sat until we sold the house in 2004. I wanted the washer, but before I could get it my Father gave it to a cousin.
