Hi, I had one of those Hoover logic, it was a 800 and was the first washer I paid for out of my wages in about 1990, it was the worst thing ever, so noisy and jumped like mad, first time I used it the pump would not work, I gave it to my dad after 2 years and a few weeks later the bearings had a catastrophic failed and ripped the tub to shreds and flooded the house and so went to the tip, same tip he sent my liberator toooooo.

Ariston Single Tub

Hi Louis,
I have not seen that exact model before but it seems almost identical to a Colston Single Tub which uses the same wash tub with bottom mounted pulsator as the Rolls Rapide Twin Tubs. It is basically the Single Tub version of the Colston Concorde Twin Tub but badged Ariston.

Hi Gary

Thank you for your offer of marriage!..Ive always fancied living in Cornwall....lol

I was not joking I do have a button for you.

Unfortunately I havn't found a parts place with loads of old stock. Simply a case of ive stripped the 3110 I owned.

One of the buttons was broken and had been superglued but the other 2 were okay. You deserve to have one of them.

I can't get to them till after Christmas as they are in a box marked 3110 in the garage loft. Andrew has started building this years Santas grotto so im unable to get up there at present.

electron1100's profile picture
Hello Mark

well it is sort of fitting in a way the button will come from Santas Grotto, so does that mean that when i sit on his knee and pull his beard, and ask forra train set an action man and a Hoover A3110 spin button he'll laugh and say here you are young man, at which point i will let go of his beard grab the pile of pressys and make a hasty retreat.

What a shame to scrap the A3110, mind i have jsut scrapped an A3350, although part of that is going to one of Paul & Robs mates for a project so at least we can re-cycle our parts to each other and not the scrap bin

Post# 314320 , Reply# 48   11/11/2008 at 08:01 (5,637 days old) by washdayisfun ()

Hi Mike

Yes the 3110 was really beyond repair. So many things wrong with it and I don't have the money to fix machines with so much needing repaired.

Also I have reduced the collection so it was a choice of keeping the 3110 and fixing it and getting rid of my restored A3060 or keeping the 3060 and scrapping the 3110. Only took me a couple of seconds to make that decision!

Good luck to whoever (Mike) gets the 3110 on eBay!

Mark

hey isn't that a bit too much, i'd expect that to sell for about max. £80, coz my dad bought one from a house clearance that was also very clean and reliable but unfortunately didn't suit our kitchen, so had to go and was sold for £50 a give away to someone who was wanting a first machine!

ooooh i wish that was my machine selling lol!

Insane!!!!

I logged on at 20.05 and was flabbergasted - £201.18p.

Now I love A3110's, but that is rather a high price to pay for one.
My aunt and uncle would, if i were to tell them, be gobsmacked at that price. It does look an immaculate machine though and with all the bits and bobs with it too.

I dont think the winner posts here, as I am sure that the purchaser also bought that Hoover A3058 800 Electronic, that was in London a while back, and we havent heard from that machine since. i fear that this A3110, will slip under the radar.

nevertheless, congratulations to the purchaser - you have got yourself a grand machine there, which oozes style. may it give you years of satisfaction and pleasure.
be great of you to post a piccy or two!

good one.
cheers
paul

A3110 on ebay

electron1100's profile picture
I would think that the seller being an appliance dealer will be more keen on looking out for old models now, so that would be more beneficial from a saving old models point.

Th only down side it is will push up prices.

As Mike said "Wot...!!! £201 quid and NO KEYPLATES" I concur with those thoughts

But I know if I had to choose with £200.00 to spend on a new piece of junk or the old Hoover which one i would choose, not that I am biased on these matters :-)

How the years slip away on Ebay.....

Both those dryers being apparently 15 years old! More like 15x2 for the first one and 15+5 for the second one. Either way both in nice condition. One wonders where the concept of time actually goes to such appliance owners where the years just magically slip away. If only we could....!

Hoover Twin Tub

electron1100's profile picture
Hello Seamus

Well i have brought this one home, but i have no where to keep it, so i might have to move this one on.

It is nice having soft water, after years of living in london where it is hard, when i first opened up a washing machine down here it was a shock to see how clean it was inside

I think twin tubs are great machines, far more involved than front loaders, this one is in nice condition, when i get a chance i will try it out properly, i chucked a bucket of water in the tub at work and there were no leaks and it pumped out ok, the spinner lid is not working properly, it doesnt lock down........so there are a few things to look at.

It is a model T5054

Gary

Hoover Twin Tub

electron1100's profile picture
Hello Paul

Oh yes i was not letting that go in the skip, i even helped them of the back of the truck with it, to make sure they didnt dump it on the floor :-)

As i say i cannot keep it as i just do not have the room, it is still in the back of my car at present

Today 5 yes 5 Hoovers came in 3 juniors and 2 seniors, all ratty, but i saved a few bits from the 632,s (grey ones) and two juniors, one is the standard blue/white job but the other is a sort of tangerine and orange colour, i havent come across this colour before.

Also another hotpoint came in and i managed to salvage the two strips off the lid both in good condition except one side at the rear has a hole in it where the locating lug was, the side ones were broken and not worth saving

so this weekend at work has been a "Hoover" weekend.

Gary

anyone near the midlands want a 7.5kg Fisher and Paykel top loader ?
Sure would be a one to have for those who have the space.
1000rpm spin, fully flexible wash, we have one at my workplace for the tea towels, does a great job.

a difficult decision to be made!

The only version of Hotpoint 17/18 series machines, that we dont own yet, are the silver faciad ones.

Working out what we own already, the ideal machines to plug this gap would be a silver faciad variable or microtronic and a siver faciad sodding reversomatic!!!!!!!! argggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh why does it have to be so far away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to have to think long and hard about whether I can tolerate a drive pretty much all the way to London.

Flippin heck - if the seller sees this post, take it from me, dont go posting any dodgy bids assuming I will bid.

Decisons, decisions.
Paul & Rob
p.s i always thought this machine was a 17760 not a 17660 - the 660 has a 2 tone silver facia whilst the 760 has a brown and silver facia. intrigued.

Hi Paul

I'm not going to bid on the Hottie and Gary is right Stanmore isn't too bad to get to. It's quite a nice part of London, I believe!

I hope whomever got the 3110 is not disappointed, it looked a great machine, just a bit far from me. I'm not surprised it went for over £200. I think vintage machines are getting more expensive these days. They must have really wanted it!

Old Zanussi

`18 years old but never put a foor wrong in all that time'

Why doesn't that surpise me. What fantastic machines these really were.

The seller appears genuine, if only it were a little more local! I don't know if this is a carbon brush or induction machine, I find it hard to tell with these models, as Zanussi made both types of machines which looked like that. Having used and owned both types, they're both fine machines but I prefer the induction models.

Perhaps one of our learned friends would know the motor system this machine has?

Nick

anyone know?

p.s still in turmoil over that 17760 (it is a 17760 not a 17660). what to do?

Post# 316023 , Reply# 92   11/19/2008 at 14:57 (5,629 days old) by hotpoint9534 (UK)
FL511

The FL511 is a perfectly valid model number. This model, the FL811 and FL812 machines do have the induction motor.

Now, is this a 500rpm or a 800rpm machine. The grey version of the 500rpm Z9151 washcraft perhaps?

A link to the FL511 timer diagram can be found in the link.

I seem to have answered my own question. The FL511 is a 500rpm machine. According to Electrolux Distriparts the 500rpm motor fits both the Z9151 and FL511.

Tom

Post# 316031 , Reply# 95   11/19/2008 at 15:45 (5,629 days old) by sajid6952 ()

The ebay offering certainly looks like an FL811 to me after looking at the instruction book. I wasnt aware that Zanussi were still selling 500rpm machines in the UK as late into the eighties as they were produced.

The mind boggles!

Post# 316032 , Reply# 96   11/19/2008 at 15:51 (5,629 days old) by hotpoint9534 (UK)

The FL511 has an identical fascia to the FL811.

The link below shows an exploded diagram and parts listing for the FL511, FL811 and FL812 machines. The FL811 and FL812 list the part number for a 800rpm motor, the FL511 shows the part number for a 500rpm motor.

A quick search on www.partmaster.co.uk... for that part number '50097610005' shows that this fits the Z9151 and FL511. I know for definite the Z9151 was 500rpm.

If anyone needs anymore proof I'll find some more evidence!

Tom...

The links you have supplied are most enlightening - thank you.

It's the first time I've seen a lower spin speed model of that era - not that there is any visual difference. The vast majority I've seen have usually been 800rpm machines. :-)

The lower spin speed has most likely contributed to the lengthy trouble free service the machine has delivered as the current owner states.

If only I had the room for it!

500 Spin

Hi Tom,
The wiring diagram you linked to definitely shows a two speed Motor setup, 800 and 1000 Spin models have a three speed Motor.

I hope this helps.

David

Hi David,
Thanks for the help with the wiring diagram, not one of my strong points I'm afraid.

So 500rpm FL511 it is then, a rarity for sure.

Tom

Post# 316154 , Reply# 100   11/20/2008 at 11:49 (5,628 days old) by 2drumsallergy ()
A rarity for sure

Hi Tom,
Well I'm yet come across one.

If you look at the wiring diagram for the FL511 you will see two circles near the bottom with the letter M in them, these circles denote the Motor. Terminal 1 is a common Neutral, 3&4 are Spin, 5&6 are Tumble so two speeds - Tumble and Spin.
Now if you look at the same circles on the FL811 diagram you will see the first circle (Spin) has an extra terminal 2, this denotes two speeds slow and fast Spin. The second circle (Tumble) has one speed so three speeds in total - Tumble, 400 Spin and 800 Spin.

I hope this makes some sense to you.

David

Ebay November

electron1100's profile picture
Hello all

This has been a good month on ebay for the range of machines that have cropped up.
I too would like to add that the basic Zannusi machines i always liked for there honest engineering and functionality, the one near the top of page a freind of mine had for years and years, the only reason he got rid of it was because it had been leaking and this had rotted the rear lower section of the cabinet and it could not stand up any more.

Hello Richard

I have one these in my loft, it is up there because it is the only place i can, A. put a tumble dryer, B. it was the largest one i could get through the loft opening.

It has turned out to be a great little machine, they did three different versions of this, a 5lb load, a 7 lb load and a 9 lb load version, to achieve this they made the drum deeper each time.

I have modified mine with a reversing motor and reversing controller from a white knight tumble dryer. because small drum tumble dryers tangle large items like sheets.

These are really well built and stylish machines, motors burning out is not too uncommon, the problem being a build up of fluff etc around the motor over many years of usage

Thats my experience of one of these dryers i hope this helps you

Gary

Quartz Dryer

My Mum had one of these. Looked good but took ages to dry things. It could vent from the rear, left, right or the front. The fluff filter was located where the dispenser draw is on a washing machine but it wasn't very effective. The back of the machine where the other vent ports were used to clog with fluff very quickly reducing air flow......used to have to vacuum the back of the machine out every week.

Lovely dryer, the new position fluff collector was not good, BUT if you took the backbox off and vented directly out (placing a filter in the drum back) like the older models, this was one of the most efficient dryers of its time, 1.9kw heater, high airflow etc....
