KitchenAid Sweepstakes Seeks Longest Running Dishwasher
Apr 26, 2005

Appliance maker KitchenAid is running a sweepstakes to find the longest running KitchenAid dishwasher model in the U.S. The grand prize winner of the Longest Running KitchenAid(R) Dishwasher Sweepstakes will receive a U.S. $15,000 kitchen appliance makeover from KitchenAid, including, if they wish, a dishwasher from the new KitchenAid 2005 model line.

Consumers will be able to enter the sweepstakes from May 1 through August 31 at U.S. retailers or on line at www.KitchenAid.com.... In order to qualify, entrants must own a functioning KitchenAid dishwasher. A completed entry form must include the dishwasher's serial number.

In addition to the grand prize winner, 10 first prize winners, selected randomly from all entrants, will receive two KitchenAid dishwashers, one for themselves and one to share with a friend or family member. The first 5,000 submissions will each receive a certificate for a $100 mail-in rebate on the purchase of a new KitchenAid major appliance.

According to the company, its new 2005 line of standard size dishwashers feature the new ProScrub(TM) wash device that is said to deliver heavy-duty cleaning for items like pots or casserole dishes. The heavy-duty items are placed in a specific area of the dishwasher where increased water pressure is delivered at frequent intervals. An optimum wash sensor system optimizes energy and water consumption by automatically adjusting the wash cycle based on the water hardness and food particles in the water.

Beyond the standard dishwasher, KitchenAid also offers the industry-first brivaŽ in-sink dishwasher. Configured as a double sink, with one side of the sink housing the dishwasher, the briva is capable of cleaning light loads up to three times faster than standard full-sized dishwashers when used with the optional high-performance water heater. The dishwasher rack and jet are easily removable, allowing both sides to be used as sinks.

Back in '83, I had a spankin' new Hobart-era KA. One morning I fired it up and left for work. Came home at 5:00 and it was still running. The timer wouldn't advance past the wash cycle. This means it ran almost ten hours! I'd say that's a long time. Do you think that'll count Launderess? :)

Fine Print

Interesting. Certainly someone in this group should win. I wonder how they define "longest running dishwasher"? Must it have been used continuously? Never removed or put in storage? Must it still be with the original owner?

The ProScrub sounds just like the Kenmore Elite TurboZone.
