I was just wondering if this is normal behaviour for a Hotpoint Aquarius 1200?

During the normal cottons cycle it goes through phases of distribution speed agitation.

The machine appears to be a pre-Merloni era unit as it has MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN on the front and the older hotpoint logo.

It's digital, but not particularly fancy has a "ONE" button etc.

Anyone got any idea if that is normal behaviour, or is the machine in need of service?

It's actually installed in an elderly relative's house and we're just re-decorating the place for her while she's having a hip replaced. So, were just wondering if it's time for a new washing machine too ...

Powerstream...

Sounds like a WMA model Aquarius with Powerstream wash action. If so, then this is perfectly normal.

One not too dissimilar from the pic maybe?

Yeah that's the machine! The only difference is hers is completely white.

Seems to have lasted quite a while given that it's used almost daily and not particularly well looked after.
