I finally found a local repair shop that didn't send me packing when I told them I needed a timer motor for a 1956 GE washer repairing. The place I found is a real hole in the wall in one of those parts of town where you tend to find body parts, but when I went in there, they had all kinds of motors in various degrees of disrepair. The person there said that it may take time, but they should be able to fix it! I will let you know how this works out - they may be interested in taking some mail order work, too!
So, maybe, just maybe, my Christmas wish of getting a working timer for the GE washer/dryer combo may just come true... Stay tuned...
