Nice dryer!

I saw a Hamilton dryer Monday, at one place I buy trade in's. I think it was newer, had a half moon shaped window, and a gold background on the console.

I like it! How wide is it? Mine is 27", but this one looks bigger...

it is 31" wide, and has a 4" vent, not the 3" that some models had.

Nice find!

Neat that it still has the original Hamilton style window-door with what looks like a lint filter underneath it. What's that little lid on the cabinet top to the right? Is that the lint filter or the handy receptacle for Mother's cigarette ashes?

that was the pilot light access. I house-sat for friends who had one of these 20 years ago...I was intimidated especially by the lint filter which was pierced metal (rather than screen) and was very tricky to get into the slots (as I recall it had been bent or something.

Those are the ones that have the small mirror under that lid, to help light the pilot.

It also has a perforated drum, the diameter of the drum is 26", the big new whirpools are 27". I suspect that this dryer might be a very fast dryer.

This is a condensing dryer I hear, what is that exactly?

A condensing dryer has a tube or bladder of cold water that the hot exhaust from the dryer drum will be directed against; the moist lint-filled air will condense back to water when it hits the cold surface. Usually, cold water is flowing continuously and the outflow water from the condesor tube will wash away the accumulated lint.
I am still working on a GE washer/dryer combo that is a condensor style - I tried to learn as much as I could about this type of dryer, but I may not have all the facts here...

Tx that helps, this thing is a little more complicated than I thought. Matt
