Hi all, well its been awhile since I posted and I did move into my new house. I LOVE IT !!, but I have been very busy with the house and moreso my job. I am in sales and need to watch the numbers even closer now because my mortgage depends on it. I haven't really looked for apps for quite awhile now but in the last couple months I did come across four. Another early 70's Norge by Fedders in fair condition. (I already have one in much better shape); Another '62 Maytag washer, the last one I tried to sell on ebay and nadda so I tore it down for parts. This one I will probably keep. Another '67 Frigidaire in fair condition that I will probably tear down for parts and MOST IMPORTANTLY > , drumroll please > a '57 Whirlpool Imperial Washer in excellent condition. After doing a trade of my '56 for RickR's '61 AND seeing the PHENOMENAL restoration he did on it I am all to happy to find this '57. I did create a link for pics but my dig cam didn't work to well my dark garage tonight. Hope to see many of you at the convention. Very best regards, --gregm

WOW!!! What a haul!!! Look at all these treasures you keep on finding! That Norge Greg looks exactly like the one my family had when i was a kid, except ours had the 20 lb. capacity.

That frigidaire looks just like the one one of my aunts had years back-too cool!!

Of course that WP imperial is THE BOMB!!! ( can you tell i'm excited LOL )

That Maytag is absolutely a beaut!! (come on now Maytag, look at the REAL QUALITY you used to put out.)

Greg, all i can say is you are blessed period!!

Let's hear it for the northeast contingent YAY! YAY! YAY!

Thanks for these pics. Here's wishing you many happy washings.
You go boy!

Question about the Whirlpool

Is this the one that buzzes and pops open right before the cycle ends? I have been looking for one of those!

Cool stuff!

What the heck's that knob for on the top of the Maytag console?

And does that button on the front of the WP light up?

thanks Pat, I do have the Norge "20" which is in much better cosmetic shape, this one is an "18" (both the same size tub regardless) but the "18" in the pics has a lot more rust and is in much more "worn" shape. Thanks for the warm wishes.

Thanks Rich, Rex, and Peter .......

KevinPreston3, YES, this is the one that buzzes at the end of the cycle and the lid pops up electronically/automatically.

Veg-o-matic, the knob on top of the Maytag is for rinse water temperature either all cold or "auto" which I think gives warm rinses for the hot or warm washes; and yes the button on front of the Whirlpool does light up.

Robert, can't wait for you to see the house and hopefully with all washers in place.

Ok, so now I know what it looks like!

Rick had one that was close, but I think this is the one my mom had that I can barely remember. Let me guess...lights in the tub right? Well, now I know what to look for on the West Coast!!!

What caught my eye

That GE air conditioner. I've never seen one like that before. My granny had a 50's something Fedders I think it was, heat/cool unit. The front and control panel was like a 48 Desoto grill with these cool sliding controls. I was forever playing with it when I was small, moving the louvers, turning the heat on. It fascinated me.

Norge by Fedders

So what years did Norge go from Borg-Warner to Fedders to Maytag?

Post# 65689 , Reply# 21   5/7/2005 at 05:29 (6,926 days old) by kenmore1978 ()
Westinghouse POD

So is this model the last "slant front" model?

Life is good!

New home and a great haul. What else is there? First, congrats on your new home, and then congrats on your finds. They look great but that whirlpool is really cool.

BTW, whats up with the frigidaire that you've decided to tear it down for parts?

Post# 65758 , Reply# 24   5/7/2005 at 20:10 (6,925 days old) by gregm ()

thanks all, I am not sure what year BW sold off or when Norge went to Fedders, I want to say early 70's but that is a guess. Rocky2, well I have alot of machines and have sold off a couple but am anxious to get most or all setup in my new basement. The most recent Frigidaire I will tear down for parts whereas I have two others in great cosmetic condition but one needs some mechanical work. This most recent find is in poor cosmetic condition although the photo doesn't show it.
