Hi, new to this forum. I have been reading for sometime, thought I'd join up and share. Today I lugged home a little Maytag A50 Porta-Washer after a 6 hour drive to get it. Good shape, needs a belt and a water diverter plunger. Took it apart and had a look, little to no rust and this thing weighs at least 100lbs and it's smaller than the Hoover twinnie. I'm posting the PhotoBucket link with the disassembly pics and the YouTube link of me babbling about it, I'm not a skilled video guy by any means, let me know what you think.

I enjoyed the video. I hope you are able to get the machine working. I had a Hoover TT when I lived in an apartment it had only one impeller, but I worked ok for me. I would rather use the TT and have to go down four flights of stairs, and find out the only washer and dryer were in use.

Hi Tim, another FAB find, those Maytags always fascinated me with the double impellers, finally got to use Gregs a few years ago and then by sheer chance one came up on fleebay 40mins away from me on this side of the pond!!! (it was in an american camper van that was being re-fitted)having moved and worked on lots of twinnies, this is one of the heaviest!!! even given the tubs are molded plastic, those motors look like they are out of a top loader!!and the spin motor is about the same size as the washer and induction, overe here the spinners are usually with brushes!!

The one thing that did surprise me was the SPIN BRAKE BANG, did not expect that!!! much enjoyed the video, Mike

Gotta luv the white tubs! I love anytoploarer with white tubs.
Just got into the video and remembered something that may help you Tim:

That poly belt you should check and see if it cross references with Maytags dishwasher belts, they were poly. And I think someone here once replaced one with a Hoover or Eureka belt.

Happy Hunting.

Poly Belt

macboy91si's profile picture
The local store had a few of the clear poly belts in stock for the dishwashers, but none fit unfortunately. The A50 takes a 47" belt and they didn't have anything that came close. Luckily their vendor had 5 in stock still, he said those belts last quite a while, so hopefully I won't have to worry about it for a while. I found an online parts store with the diverter plunger "thingie" as well so hopefully this week she'll be ready to wash. I'll definitely get some vids out when it's ready. I'm very intrigued at that double wash impeller as my Hoover only has one. Aside from the diverter valve, she doesn't leak a drop, and that pump, oh boy that things a beast, it pumps out more than my sink will handle. I think I'm gonna like this little jewel.
