1986 is the birth year. Kenmore64 can probably nail it down to the month. Unless the Kenmore is leaking or sounds like it's struggling to agitate (thick, dirty trans oil) it would probably be best to leave it alone. When you have some time to kill, run it through a fully loaded cycle and watch the top half of the agitator. If isn't turning with great authority, or at all, replace the dogs and seals in the agitator. The entire kit is very cheap on ebay.

Thanks. These direct drives do seem to be easy enough to switch out parts. And this one suggests the parts are durable. Only driven on Mondays by a little old lady. |
