Constant Rinse

I could never figure out why they eliminated this feature. I know Hobart said that people kept shoving in the top rack and they would break off. Why the heck they never redesigned them or put a guard around them leaves me miffed. This why I think the 18s are the best cleaning machines. I have a KDS 20 and it's good, but not great.

Can't understand why...

They painted the panels. She was originally Harvest.
Oh well, I can't wait to water test her tomorrow.

"Stylish" is very subjective. Older styles always seem to work their way back into play, eventually. I'm willing to bet she'll be singing a different tune about "style" after running a few loads through her new "stylish" dishwasher. Oh well, her loss, your gain :)

Nice machine. I never realized how low that rinse arm hung. I can imagine that it would get nailed and snapped off. Great find!

Very nice - now you can be "stylin" with a dishwasher that gets every thing squeaky-clean in under an hour!

I love my KDS-18, I put a later rack & wash arm assy. in mine to get the better washing in the corners of the top rack - the rack from your 20 series will slide right in. I have the spinning disc constant rinse in my 18 - not sure if it makes a huge difference which one it is as long as something is spraying the tops of glasses. It certainly is better than the slit in the water tube of later models. You're right about the needed redesign of the Constant Rinse - it could have easily been done as the plumbing was on the outside top of the tank anyway.

Best of luck on the water test, she looks just beautiful!

That KDS-18 is the best looking model I think KA ever made.

I have one sitting in storage as we speak. Lovely machine. The Bosch in the main house kitchen is getting nervous... lol...

Ooo, great machine! Also for the best price too. Love the tear drop look of the lighted indicators. Hobart seemed to change that up for each model - 16 through 20.

Congrats,

Ben

I actually have 2 18s. Late this past summer there was an arcing sound and some burning wire aroma. So when I water test this one we'll see which may become the parts donor.

Nice find! The metal constant rinse (as in the 17) would have been more practical. It hugged the top better. I have never noticed a big difference without the constant rinse.

Excellent save, Eddie! It's rare to find any dishwasher with pristine racks like this and for free, too! Keep us posted on how the water tests go.

You are missing the removable large fragment filter (clips into the blue part next to the stainless steel filter. Not sure exactly what function it performed (nothing ever seemed to get caught in it on my mother's) but it is indeed there.
