Our Hotpoint is goin well apart from a little fault.Sometimes on spin it starts to bang very loudly.I have just done a load of towels and it was banging so loudly,i was very worried. It was quite unbalanced but other machines dont do it?I am worried because i want to keep it!

Thanks

It's normal for these machines.

I don't know why but most Hotpoints, particularly the ones from the 90's up to 2001 typically bang very loudly on spin. I'd think it's down to poor suspension design.

Our WM52 was quite horiffic for it, we were driven out of the kitchen almost every time it span! The drum would bang on the back panel of the machine, then the front when it swung back. This was just on distribute!

They're meant to have an out of balance sensor, but I found ours tended to cut in when it was balanced and let it spin when it wasn't!

I think it's just one of those things you have to learn to live with on these machines. All I can suggest is making sure it's perfectly level on the floor and washing full, evenly balanced loads.

Matt

Dont remember Mums Hotpoint WM62 ever doing this but it would spin with unbalanced loads occasionally and just get on with the job.

Is it definitely banging and not just `water slap'? This can sound like banging, really loud. These Hotties are famous for water slapping. Literally, water thrown out during spin doesn't reach the pump and the paddles just chuck it round the outer drum. If water is pouring down the glass during the spin, this would be an indication. Stop the spin, let it drain and start again. This problem is especially typical on towel loads where a load of water is chucked out quickly.

My Mum and Dad chucked a WM25 which always did this.

two bathmats,it cut out every time!

I was picturing some Hottie, maybe from Hooter's and a headboard--Wink-Wink.

Joke, just a joke.
