1-18 Tub Nut--Help!! 		[Down to Last]

Just as I get the bellows off, another dilemma awaits, the large 1 1/2" tub nut! Realizing that I didn't have the Frigidaire tub nut wrench, or a crescent wrench that was big enough to handle it, I went to Lowe's and picked up a HUGE 12" one. I sprayed the nut down with PB, took a small double-sided hammer, and got down to business. The wrench is too long to lie flat with the inner tub in place, so it is against the nut at a slight angle but not enough of an angle to affect leverage. With just the outer tub, it is fine. The nut just won't budge, and I don't want to damage it even more by pounding it (I already scratched/gouged it a little bit) since this part is NLA.

I know my air impact wrench will handle it with ease (just like with the pulsator nut), but I don't have a socket long or big enough to fit on there! I'm going to call a few places tomorrow to see what they have (worst case they should have a larger-drive socket and I'll have to use an adapter), but in case I can't find anything, any advice? I sprayed on some more PB before I closed everything up, so I'm going to let it sit overnight and then try again in the morning (right now I have the inner tub out...maybe I can "jolt" the nut to the left without damaging it by striking quick enough).

Try a water heater wrench! If I'm not mistaken, the heating element nuts on water heaters is 1 1/2 as well. Most of the hardware stores have these right beside the heating elements for the WH's

Thanks for the comments! I'll try a water heater wrench; Dave doesn't have any tub wrenches in stock (otherwise I'd just assume get one of those).

Hopefully I'll be Jet-Action Washing by the end of May, before the Convention!
