I helped an elderly bloke out of his car with this very old Creda tumble dryer, when i turned it to face me I thought this is one i have never seen.
I asked him about it, and it turns out he was an engineer for Creda and this model was a test model given to engineers to take home and write reports on, they could then keep the machine if they wanted.
It does not use a standard timer but by selecting the corresponding letter on the dial for the type of fabric it senses when the clothes are dry, nothing new there really except this machine is about 30 years old he says..........pre-dates Hoovers autosense dryers in this country.
The control panel is in mint condition as is the chrome trim on the door, it has beautiful stainless steel drum.
He says it still works but he no longer needs such a large machine..........it has no rust, the only bad visual things are where some of the paint has lifted, which is shame, but even though i do not have the room for it i had to take it as it such a rare model,
As you can see in the pictures it describes itself as a "Tumbler Dryer" which I think is amusing also on the back it says "Jackson" and not "Creda"
So thats me fancy find at work........my poor garage......where will I put it.......
Gary

OH my god Gary!!!!

Thank $^&k that machine was taken to your yard and you got it!

You must find space for it!
If you really cant accommodate it - let me know!

That is in superb codition and, with the upmost respect to him, more fool the owner for getting rid of such a great machine. as an ex-creda engineer he really should have known better.

One of the most advanced machines, if not the most advanced dryer, when it first came out. The Creda TD400 sensamatic - and no spring chicken!
The series, which included mine and rob's compact 275, were introduced in 1973!

Below is the 'Visual Arts Display Society' image of the sensamatic, from their archives:

Below is the advert for the entire series, courtesy of Mike King's collection:

the TD275 Tumbler dryer
the TD400 Tumbler dryer
&
the TD400A Sensamatic.

When the machines were redesigned in the late 1970s, with chunky dials, they introduced a 4th machine in the form of the 'Reversamat'.....

Fantastic looking machine. Congratulations.

Was it Creda that made these? We had one branded New World from 1974 up until 2004. The heater box finally failed and because of the asbestos we couldnt find anyone prepared to rewind the element.

The New world had a blue fascia with a No-Low-Hi temp switch and a 2 hour timer.

Jackson!

I have seen a oven branded Jackson in the UK.It had the Creda logo underneath it.I think they are a joint company.

I think you may be correct, probably another amalgamation of two companies.......

I hate to tell you all this but an Electra Electronic with time delay on it came in yesterday, It looks like a Hotpoint underneath, not very good condition, the door hinge cover has been changed for a white one instead of the original blue colour

I just cannot take it..........if anyone wants to drive down today feel free, mathew has my phone number
