I have a questions regarding Suds Saver which I think I have the concept of. With everyone going "green" today, Is there a reason why engineers have not come up with a seperate storage tank to save hotwater/suds from a previous load and use it immediately towards another load? Especially with top load machines. Just a thought.

My mothers simpson from the 60's had Suds saver and used to have 2 outlet pipes. You could buy suds saver laundry tubs though they may not have been called this - they are rather big.

One outlet went down the bypass in the tub, the other went in the tub and sat 1-1/2 inches off the bottom.

Put the plug in the tub.

When the wash water was being pumped, it went in the tub. The rinse water down the bypass.

The wash water was then siphoned back into the machine for reuse at the end of the cycle or beginning of the next cycle. Sediment was left at the bottom of the laundry tub. Machine topped up with water and you added more detergent....say 1/3-1/2 normal dose...and away you went...
