Convention 2005

Hi Greg. Roger and I will be coming from Tucson, Az. We are looking forward to seeing your collection. Unfortunately, Nate cannot make it to the convention. It has been so long since I saw a Kelvinator in action.

I can't come to the convention, (work interference, naturally) and the two machines I'd love to see in action are the two you posted; the super-cala-splash-arrific Kelvinator and a '50's-era Frigidaire. I will certainly be thinking of all of you that weekend. Signed, Green w/ Envy and Just A Bit Weepy

Hi JasonL-

Is Bri from the state of MA? If so, the country music is an interesting liking.

My brother-in-law was born and raised in NYC and loves country music We just can't figure out why or how this is possible....

My other brother-in-law is from PA (near No Hope, I mean New Hope), surrounded literally by cornfields and he can't stand country music. GO FIGURE

Then again he swears he is in the suburbs and not in the country.

My definition of country? No natural gaslines but propane tanks abound.. you in the country now, bubba.

Keep adding more!

gansky1's profile picture
My goal was to put a new picture up every other day or so, fell behind working on things around here - preparations continue and things are coming together very nicely! Aside from a minor flood Saturday, I did a lot of work on the rooms we'll be washing in and on a couple of machines as well.

This is a 64 Lady Kenmore washer that Don Shier (jetaction) found in Minneapolis. I repaired a wire it seems to work OK, a complete tear down and restoration would be nice, but time is not on our side for that! I gave her a bath yesterday and while scrubbing years of neglect from her top and controls, you could almost see her smiling again!

The orginal, skinny shaft agitator is still here - it can be put in anytime for washing/viewing pleasure. Performance is virtually the same with either agitator, the size is about the same and I've not noticed any difference with the larger barrel on the filter-agitator, turnover is the same. I use the this 'Tag for lots of loads and like having the softener dispenser.

Post# 69179 , Reply# 39   6/4/2005 at 01:54 (6,898 days old) by westytoploader ()

I noticed that on the WI-57 lid instructions, there are instructions to start and stop the washer on both the "Normal" and "Small" load columns. Can't believe some might think that would differ..."Well, if the tub is half full there's no way to shut it off!" LOL...

Yup - the water level is high enough to just cover the top, with the filter agitator (sans softener dispenser) it sloshes over the top of the chrome filter cap.

Could you use this agitator in your push-button Maytag, too? I assume the push-button just has the stainless steel lint filter without the dispenser. Is that right?

Austin - I can't remember what the OPM is now, I seem to remember hearing that the 50 cycle pulley increased the speed numbers by around 30% +/- but I'm not positive on that...

Mike - Helical drive is simply a shaft that is threaded like a screw or bolt. When motor runs one direction the drive pulley winds up and turns the spin shaft, turning the other direction the pulley winds down the helical 'threads' and drives the agitate/transmission shaft.

I'm thinking Speed Queen probably would tell you they have the longest stroke of all the t/l washers but we've tried to "test" this in the past and found that it wasn't all that accurate.

Well, being that I'm still looking for a full-time job up here in MA I don't think I'll be able to make it. Maybe within the next week, but I dunno. It's getting close and plane tickets are gonna get expensive. Yeah I could drive but it's a 2 day ride.

Miracles do happen so keep praying.

64 Lady K Ready for Washing

gansky1's profile picture
I worked all day yesterday paiting around the house and in the garage getting things ready to hook up machines out there. I put in the water and drain lines today and gave some of the machines a test run in their new spots. The Lady took on the rags from the weekend's tasks with all the style and grace you'd expect from a proper lady...

More Previews...

Here is the North wall of the garage with four machines hooked up and running - there is room for three more, two Robert is bringing and then a "blank" spot for other visiting machines as needed. One more machine (for a total of 8 in the garage hooked up) is against another wall out of sight -- the super-duper surprise machine!!

I would certainly be a happy camper if the combos to be seen were in a hospital gown.

Greg ... that's a beauty!! I had that exact same machine as a built-in in white when I lived in Washington. I thought it did a really nice job. When my Mom would visit, she didn't like it; she said everything was loaded backwards!!

Though I am unable to attend, my personal representative will be there.

So, Greg, should you find your Maytag dishwasher and GE combo missing, it's someone else!

I say we blame the new guy ;)

Bob & Greg

Thanks for the offer. Any of the unimatics with their 1140rpm spin speed will do just nicely. I'll think of all of you frolicking in appliance Nirvana while I'm stuck in my seminar.

backwards loading -

gansky1's profile picture
We had one after our KM Roto-Rack timer died - about 1981. I love loading that dishwasher, no matter where you put things - they got sparkling clean! Our later, belt-drive model sounded like a freight train coming through the kitchen, but this earlier model with direct-drive motor/pump is much quieter while running. We're going to move this and the 57 GE MobileMaid (with glass top coming tuesday) up to the kitchen so we can play with all the vintage dishwashers upstairs and not bother the laundry flow...

stealing appliances in our pocketbooks...

Like the gay Teletubbie, a purse the size of a GE combo might attract attention...

Sneaking away from the reunion

Guys,

It appears that I may be able to sneak away from my family reunion in York, NE (About 2 hours away) on Saturday night for a few hours, if the host will let me just drop in!

Hope to see you there!

Re: P.S.

Hey! Guys and Gals, if there aren't any Lady-K Combos available, "Pleaz" do at least 1-Load in the Bendix Duomatic for me...The one with the Great "Steering-Wheel" looking Door and Window...

Heck, no matter how many Combos there are available, "Pleaz" do a Load in each one for me...

Peace and Happy Convention Fun and Good Times, with Great Friends, Steve
