HI all, My ABC and I are in an article today in the Peoria Journal Star. The article deals with people who have old appliances and still use them on a regular basis.
I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do. Thanks, Gary

on the article in today's paper. I hope they have a follow-up because I definitely want to show off the 1937 G.E. Electric Sink, 1948 G.E. Electric Sink, and maybe even the 1930's ABC Washer/Spinner made right here in Peoria.

This is great - another AW.org member featured in the news! Congrats on the article, you should be proud to be (more than likely) the only one in Peoria still using an ABC!

Congrats on being featured! My only hope is that they go a little further into their issue of energy use if they're going to bring it up. An older appliance using a little more energy than a new one is NOT the reason to get a new one. There should be an explanation as to how much energy is used making newer disposable appliances that get replaced every 5 years as opposed to running the same appliance for 50-60 years without the need for new ones.

I'm very proud of our group members saving items from going into landfills and not going out and buying the same old cheap garbage in the stores now that would soon be going into the same landfills over and over again.

I love the story about the wood stove too! That must have been a special treat to have a true turn of the century home-cooked meal like that!

Jon

Very nice article indeed! Nice to see this topic displayed in a positive light. The energy savings thing is a bit misguided, particularly when you think about it from every angle; still I like the great pictures and overall spirit of the article.

HI everyone, It is great to hear from so many of you about last week's article. I just got home from tuning pipe organs in a whirlwind trip of Northern Illinois and Iowa. If it is Tuesday, it must me Winnetka. lol Back to Chicago on Monday. I have a friend who's father worked for ABC when my machine was built; what he did was paint them as they came along the assembly line. I would still love to have an ABComatic washer. I can only hope. Thanks, Gary
