Over the weekend I visited a persons home only to be surprised to see what was there! Among other collections, there were these washers & dryers, actually many more then I photographed.

The owner of these machines admitted there are too many and said he would consider the possibility (though he seemed a little reluctant...) of selling SOME machines to interested parties. He gave the the impression that NONE of the Maytags are for sale (my comment: though it might not hurt to ask) and MANY, but NOT ALL of the other machines he would take offers on.

Some of these may need some repair but we did plug in a number of them and they did work fine.

So if you have any interest please e-mail me and I will forward the info on to him.

Please remember, NOT ALL are for sale, especially the older Maytags.

And here we go......

Excellent haul! How many do you get to take/buy? I would come and get that '55 AMP (the one with the bump up controls) or the rocker switch Kenmo', but too far away. I know someone near LA who might like the gold Maytags or the 1-18...

I definately have an interest in the Maytags. The yellow, turqs and Amp got my attention and that pink dryer grabbed me by more than just my attention... This one would come close to fullfilling part of a wish list item! Is he SURE he doesn't want to part with just a few of those Maytags? Kevin, you need to sell him on the love those machines will get! Let me know...

I got first call on the turquoise set, though... lol

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the yellow washer looks like the one Betty Draper had on "Mad Men" no??

As I said, all (as far as I know) of the Maytag's are staying (those are his daily drivers). Also, there was at least one other Frigidaire washer there that I saw, though it was buried in a garage.

Keep in mind all of these machines need a good cleaning, some need additional TLC and a few need more work than that.

One washer I was NOT able to get a photo of because I could not access it, is a harvest gold Whirlpool PORTABLE washer. This is a FULL SIZE washer, NOT apartment size, with wheels and the controls on the front like the small portables. I don't know the year, but can find out.

Peter, I have not brought home anything yet.... but I am working on it! *wink*

RCD, I will ask about the Maytag's (never hurts to ask), but I am pretty sure that incredible pink dryer is not going anywhere (I was drooling over that one too!). Also, unfortunately the that yellow Maytag needs some major TLC. I was going to plug it in, but decided to tilt it up and try to move the belt by hand first, but it wouldn't budge, something is seized. :-(

Wow that's quite a collection, this person should join our club for sure.

That pink Maytag dryer looks like it could be a water condenser dryer! Very rare.

It appears that Robert has loaned you one of his "Magic Flutes" for finding Nice Machines ;). Maybe the Appliance Gods will be heading to the East Coast soon to enjoy some warmer weather that's on the way.
What a Great Bunch of Machines. Good Luck to you. Eddie

Kevin - a 640C is a standard 220v electric dryer, the 640W was the condenser "water" dryer.

Kevin -

Everyone keeps saying this, but the washer karma must be in full swing! I spent this past Saturday with a fellow Charlottean whom I met here at AW. We went up to Wytheville, VA to spend the day with the gracious guys of Lightedcontrols, and my friend from Roanoke. We wrapped up the day in Roanoke. Between my washers and those in VA, I must have laid eyes on 150 to 200 washers in one day. In Wytheville I was treated to views of dozens of beautiful Maytags like yours, then got to see one that Robert just brought back to life. I LIKE THESE MACHINES!!! (Uh oh!!!)

That yellow Maytag in your pics is beautiful. My gosh.

What a GREAT post Kevin!

Gordon

Siezed, shmeezed!

So, what you're saying is that the little yellow one needs some special love. I love a challenge (dealing with the factory not withstanding). That wouldn't be the first or last siezed Maytag I'll ever beat into submission. HOWEVER, I'll bet he knows what he's got and will want premium prices.

Paul, that set may be your color, but the timers probably still work. Definately out of your league! LOL!

Talked to Mark on Friday and he said you guys were coming, he wanted me to come and meet you all and I really wish I could have. Mark is such a great guy, wonderful host, and all those washers!!! Did you bring anything home? He sold me my 1-18 set and has more stuff up there for me. Since we live so close it would be nice to meet sometime.

Ben: Thank for the info on that pink 640C dryer! It is pretty spectacular!

Andrew (and others): I will inquire about the yellow Maytag and see if he would consider letting it go...

Here are photos a couple more machines, I ran out of time this morning and couldn't post them until now.

Oh my god! The avocado green Whirlpool towards the top of the page was like the one my Mom used to have. The only difference was her's had the push button water tempurature control and the timer dial colors were reversed. Silver background with black letters. Wow that brought back some memories! Pretty cool find!

Wow I should have finished looking before posting lol. My Grandma had a 1971 Lady Kenmore set. She still has the dryer, the washer died on her years ago. Her's had a dial knob though, I noticed this one doesn't have that. But the rocker switches are the same. Her's was white. How cool!
