On the subject of Maytag Wringers...

My grandma recently gave me her old Maytag wringer washer. She bought it brand new around 1957 or so. She used it all the way up until about 1979, then finally decided to invest in an automatic.

I haven't looked at it in depth to see if it is still functional. I just put it in the storage shed and the weather hasn't been quite as favorable as I would like. It's in good shape though. It's been sitting in a dry garage for 20 years, so I would imagine it still works ok.

Boy, that seems a little rough in price for those wringers unless they are puting the majority of the price on the organ.

Tim, let's see some pics of that wringer! My latest find was a 1957 E2LP Maytag wringer that had sat dormant for a decade or two. She fired right up on the first go and works wonderfully. Besides, now is the time to go thru it and check it out while there is a higher chance of having parts available!

goat farmer`s maytag

yours looks great , I have the transmission out of one of those style Maytag wringer washers on my Oil well pumper that I made from a old exerciser. You can see I have the top off the transmission to show how the gears work the agitator.I put a pic of my BF from NY on the agitator shaft making it look like he`s twisting his head back & forth to get a better cell signal.I used the rotating drive that turned the wringer to operate the counterweight crank to move the beam up ,and down

That Maytag for sale in Greendale has been for sale for some time. At $40, that is a very good bargain. If I were closer I would have snagged it already.
