my Maytag A408 has a squeal just as it goes into the spin cycle, not all the time. any ideas? I put new belts on the machine. she drains and spins fine. Thanks, Mike.

There is nothing wrong!!! I remember that wonderful sound from my childhood very well :)

Should be no squealing. Did you clean both pulley grooves with rubbing alcohol before installing the new belt(s)? Since the belts ARE the clutch in a Maytag, LOT'S of belt material from slippage over the years tends to build up.
