My mom, brother and I had an interesting conversation lastnight, when they saw me checking out this site. We all seem to agree that we like older washers better lol. My brother doesn't like the fast, short stroke agitation at all. I'll admit I thought it was great when I first used a machine like that, however, as I was doing laundry today, I realized that I too prefer the long, slower stroke of the machines in the past. Since we have no washer/dryer hook up here at the apartment, we have to use what they provide which are Whirlpools. Good machines, but we all agreed that our old 76 Whirlpool was much better lol. Now we have a 2000 baseline Kenmore that was used only a couple of months, in storage for 9 years now. The Whirlpools here have the same "straight" vane agitator our Kenmore does. Why am I rambling about this? I dont know lol. Just felt like venting. But all I know, is when I am able, I want either a vintage Whirlpool, Lady Kenmore or Maytag A806 set when I can get one. Preferably from the 70's. They are just so much more fun to watch! LOL. Thanks for listening everyone. I hope you all have a good weekend!

Love ya!
Vern

Welcome to aw.org! You'll have a good time here.
The best places to look are on your local Craigslist, any local washer/dryer repair shop that accepts trade-ins for resale. Remember a used washer is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.
Also when looking for a new used washer, see if you can put it thru it's paces at the place of sale rather than waiting until you get it home. With a lot of used washers, all sales are final.
Good Hunting!
