Last year, Robert gave me a nice Frigidaire 1-18 (WC-2). It gave me no problems at all until early last week. Suddenly, it stopped agitating. I've really never attempted to fix a washer before, so I decided to give it a shot.

The Supersearchalator function is really fantastic. I was able to not only find out what other 1-18 users had done in the past with this issue but was also able to find links to previously scanned and posted 1-18 service manuals.

The issue was the Agitator roller. Easy to figure out...it was the only thing that wasn't turning. The interesting thing is that most everything that I had read from previous posts never mentioned failure of these rollers, just that they should be cleaned with lighter fluid (and the other roller surfaces as well).

The picture below is of the roller that I took out. The surface is well pitted. There are marks where the agitator shaft had dug in - that didn't make sense. What I figured out was that the outer portion of the roller had separated from the inner metal inner portion. When it spun, it would slide down and eventually was hung up. FYI...the lower spring arm was there when the old roller was in the washer. Fortunately for me, Greg Nunn had one of these in his stash of parts and was able to send it. Not only does it work fantastic but it is quieter when it agitates.

Thanks Greg for the part and thanks Robert for the forum (archived materials and Searchalator) to help me figure out what the isse was.
