Yep, 806's not 606's. You also have the rare stainless lint filter. Looking at the pic, it appears that the tub clamp is bent. You'll probably need to get a new one or steal a good one from a donor machine. The same clamps were used in all small and tall tub machines from the late 50's through the early to mid 90's. New tub clamps are expensive, around $50. |

Couple of things - Square non-serviceable motors were mixed with round serviceable motors starting, IIRC, in 73 or 74. A trip to the archives can confirm this. It is very possible to see original square motors on early 70's machines. A nice way to see if the motor is original to the machine is to decode the two letters on the MAYTAG label. For instance, Gary's example above shows that motor with an August '73 build and would consequentially match within a month or two of the machine build month/year. Also - the pump doesn't have the injector hose running from the dispenser container to the pump. The right handed rubber dispensers did not have a lid bumper on the right hand side, and instead acted as the bumper. Jim - do you have any photos of the model tags? Regardless of the questions you still have a beautiful set! Ben |

Hey Jim, wow, your camera focuses up close, nice! So you have a gas 806 dryer and... it would appear you have an A606 washer which, as Dan said, someone went to A LOT of trouble to put an A806-S control panel on! The 806 was the only model of this era with the lighted control panel, the 606 did not. What is the two letter code at the end of the serial number? Is that OB or QB?? You have the suds saver control panel, but you do not appear to have the suds saver machine underneath. While I don't know exactly what a "suds" machine looks like inside, I do know there should be some sort of "valve' in the outlet hose from the pump and two hoses out of the machine from there. |
