So I finally conned a family member into unloading my newly acquired HA806/DE808, thanks to RCD! Here's a quick shot taken before my departure to work. More cleaning and detailed work will be done in a couple of days.

I need a little help from you fellow autowasher members. Please post your "In House" collection pics so I don't feel like a complete nutjob!

Oh yes I have, many times. It's a 1964 DE750. My very first vintage appliance collection.....and I got it for free! Finding the matching washer will be next to impossible, but I still check craigslist on a daily basis. The incorrect ivory buttons are from a 906, but are exactly the same. I found some new gray buttons on ebay in Jan and the parts owner died between the transaction (believe it or not, it was a lady). I'm still going back and forth with the husband on getting those damn buttons *mad*

I have a 1964 A-702 that has been torn down now for over a year. The base is badly rusted through and the damper and springs are down right scary as it sat outside for a couple of years. The chrome trim that runs around the console is badly pitted and the snowflake design on the glass has completely faded away. I want to pair the 750 and 702 up, but I need too many hard to find parts. One day.....

When I figure out how to apply 120 volts to the console lights on all of the dryers (can't run more than 1 dryer at a time).

Dan... Send me an e-mail.... and I will explain how to do it. Both of my Maytag dryers are 220V, but I wired them up to 120V so everything except the heating element works.

Nice sets Dan...I like the control panel on the push button dryer. They are good dryers and left clothes soft. I have a 806 like the one on the right with blue control panel. I will find a dryer one day. I still want a newer set one of these days. Fred, your set is awsome. Did you have to do much to restore them or just lucky. You can't beat a Maytag. Enjoy! Dano-Bendix5

How newer is 'newer'? Let me know a year range, color and gas/electric preference and I'll see what I can do!

Swestoyz, 2nd row back, 1st on the right. What is that washer and can I have a better picture of it? It looks to be the match for my 641c dryer as far as dial, buttons, etc is concerned. I gotta keep my eyes peeled...

Washer is a 700. Too new as it has the "snowflake" design on the glass instead of the (older) stripes. Finding the matching washer is gonna be a real bitch. Believe me, I've been looking :)

Hey Rick! Did you rescue that Westy slant-front that was in the junkyard picture?? If you did, do you plan on restoring it or parting it out? I had to ask because the L5 I am working on is missing the 'Weigh to Save' scale completely...

Hi Paul, Sorry to say we did not rescue the Westinghouse. This junkyard was untouched for decades, but last year an excavator was moved in and started bailing up the stuff there. I have no idea what is left now.

Geoff, what is the dial on the top of the control panel on your Maytag for?

I seen it before, but keep forgetting to ask.

Jim

Post# 349733 , Reply# 39   5/18/2009 at 08:04 (5,449 days old) by geoffdelp (SAUK RAPIDS)

Jim ... That's the rinse temperature control.

Automatic setting is if you have the wash temperature set on either hot or warm, you will get a warm rinse. If your wash temperature is set on cold, you will get a cold rinse.

The Cold setting will always give you a cold rinse.

:-)

Post# 349735 , Reply# 40   5/18/2009 at 08:15 (5,449 days old) by toggleswitch2 ()

Interesting. My mother had a Maytag A206 from 1965-66.
Only a "hot" (wash) setting gave you a warm rinse.

Post# 349819 , Reply# 41   5/18/2009 at 15:11 (5,449 days old) by geoffdelp (SAUK RAPIDS)

Was the rinse water cold for the warm wash, Steve?

The instruction book for this machine tells you to use warm wash and cold rinse for wash 'n wear fabrics.

This is the thermostatically controlled one; warm water is 100 degrees, plus or minus 5 degrees.

Post# 349828 , Reply# 42   5/18/2009 at 16:24 (5,449 days old) by autowasherfreak ()

Thanks Geoff. I saw one in the window of our local Maytag dealer, but couldn't tell what it was and they were closed at the time.

Post# 349893 , Reply# 43   5/18/2009 at 20:58 (5,449 days old) by toggleswitch2 ()

~Was the rinse water cold for the warm wash, Steve?

Yes actually, on momma's A206, it was. :-)

I remember this because my aunt had an RCA Whirlpool that offered a default warm rinse with the warm wash. (Oval brush recirculating filter); mid 60's

It made an impression on me that they differed.
