Belt drive portable, designated "Lady Kenmore," no less. Who was looking for one of these a week or so ago? |

For $25 it was a steal, but the guy has pulled it from Craigslist due the number of calls. I called and he had agreed to sell it to me (I'm about 1.5hr away) and he called back saying that he was getting calls from all over and that he needed to evaluate how much the machine is worth. So after canceling my evening appointments, I'm not going anywhere now and the machine will probably be relisted at a much higher price. I hate publicity, which is the main reason I don't deal with ebay. (VENT) |

Unfortunately none are remotely near me. Something about this area, not a lot of good leads here often enough. I would have loved that Maytag set. Oh well, thing come and go. The more I look into the old BD portables the more I seem to like them. We had one years ago, but never used it as a portable but perm. install. It washed for a family of 5 for about 2 years before something quit working on it and the dreaded "roar-rant roar-rant" Frigidaire showed up. I hated that machine, it was a mid-80's model and was truly a POS. The clothes always smelled funny after being washed in it. Somehow a pair of jeans made their way UNDER the agitator and that was that. Laundry that fights back, now that's what I'm talking about! I bought a new (6mos) Haier W/D set that I'll be posting pics of over in the Deluxe forum this weekend. Pulsator washing... China style all right! Mostly I bought it for a dryer, which I don't have, and oddly the HLP140E mounts to the wall, which I thought was neat. It's a cute set, and the last Haier cheapy washer (Haier XQBM22-C) lasted 3 years or so, and this washer in the set is bigger and a higher model (HLP23E) so we'll see. -Tim |
