I was having a look at the new Bosch and Siemens washers at one of the electrical retailers and noticed a couple of things.

Firstly, the door shape has changed to a 'stepped' design. Next thing I noticed is that there appears to be a recirculation nozzel similar to a Zannussi Jet system incorporated at the 11 o'clock position in the bellows...

So my question is:

Have Bosch and Siemens started to use a simmilar system to Zannussi?

Hey!
That will be the cacade fill jet, avaliable on the mid-high end models, my 1998 bosch WFF2000 has it, it fills through it on the prewash and rinse cycles and stops when the machine has finished filling! My starts when the machine is spinning at 1000rpm! It's cool to watch!

hi logixx,

despite what it looks like its not filling, the recirculation pump is spraying water over the clothes to aid wash quality, it will do this throughout the cycle.
It fills through the dispenser hose inside the machine.

I don't think B/S/H ever employed recirc pumps. Here's the link to all the videos:

it's a cascade fill, no recirculation pump

Hi Bertrum, Alex is right [not a case ... his nickname is Logixx ;-)]

BSH introduced it in these machines like Darren's one. I' ll post a scan from the catalogue (3D system drawing) if my scanner comes back to this world (crappy driver)

Miele copied this cascade fill and introduced it on the W2000/W3000 to rinse away that boring foam that sticks on the glass

Darren , is that a spin rinse or does it start filling 4 the next rinse while it is @ full speed ?

hi favorit,
Spot on favorit, you are right the machine is filling, its not a recirculation pump, didn't think too hard when I posted that.
Funnily enough I fitted two door seals with the fill hose last week, Doh!

This should make for faster wet down times.

Bosch 'Cascade' fill...

My mum's Bosch has this feature, but it never actually 'jets' on to the laundry. Instead, it flows down the door glass and flushes foam out of the doorseal folds.

The Hoover 'New Wave' version was much more entertaining to watch!

cascade

When we had our old bosch with the cascade i saw it a couple of times managing to go beyond the door glass and onto the clothes during the slow down from spin, our water pressure here seems to change all the time, shortly afterwards it never happened again.

With this siemens i have noticed i have to keep the water jets completely clean otherwise the softner compartment fills up and dispenses too early, although i have noticed recently the water is still getting into the compartment but not enough to dispense, whether this is to do with our water pressure / flowrate going up again in the past month i dont know.

Does anyone know what the 3D aquaspa feature on the bosch does? i thought that water came from 3 different points in the drum but with this washer and my bosch i have never seen this.

3-D Aquaspa

Basically..The water fills from the bottom, the back and sides..."while the specially designed paddles move and shower the water over the load! & as they love to put in my brochures the 4th "dimension" is the cascade!

Water pressures quite high where i live jay & while the machines slowin down i'm pleased to say it hits the centre of the load with no trouble. Though i know other friends who's bosch machines have just dribbled down the door!! Like Jon's old bosch did.

.

My nan and grandad had the same bosch as you've got and theirs used to dribble down the glass :) Shame that machine went think it was coming up to 9 or maybe 10 yrs old and the computer board went.

I never remember it being as noisy as the newer bosch or my siemens. Is yours still all ok?

Hey jay,
Hmm my bosch has seen better days the pump is so loud and sticks i've bought another but i've not been motivated to fit it, the motors getting rather scratchy on spin and it rumbles abit. In truth i'm holding out for something new on ebay!! Don't tell the wife though! lol!!!

Hey Darren!

Im doing ok I guess.

The machine is an early Mark 1 New wave dated September 1993. It's model AC174 1200 Spin. It's just a New Wave Autowasher 1200 Electronic. Not a Plus 5.

The machine was free which is always a good price!

It was due to be scrapped but it's now with me. Had to do quite a bit to it as it was a bit knackered as it had not had problems fixed so things got worse. It has generally not been looked after and had a hard life. The pump had been leaking for ages and there is a lot of rust on one of the "cross Braces" where the suspension and pump is attached to. It hasn't gone through and the metal is still strong so hopefully it will last a while. There is an outer drum fatigue crack in the plastic so I have sealed this with sealant. It needed new motor brushes. Motor is in good nick though. The plastic "wave" lens on the soap drawer is missing but you can still get these. I havn't ordered one yet.

It's now looking better and runs better with no leaks.(Well door seal leaks occasionally but im not to bothered with that). It's the original door seal so it's done well.

The plastic has yellowed.

I have taken the double glazing off the door but for the photos I put it back. I prefer to be able to see properly whats going on!..lol

Here are a few pics for you. Not bad considering it was going to the tip.

Mark

Wonderful pics mark!
Everytime i get rid of a newwave i want another one lol. It's always because of space and wantng something new, however when my kitted out shed is up and running at my new house this won't be a problem.

How are you finding the newwave! Isn't the spin-wash just brilliant to watch!
