Found this set last night while walking the dogs out in front of a house that's being prepared to sell. Left a note with my phone number on the front gate. This morning the Realtor called and said to take them away.

Good God! Looks (and smells) like the previous owner(s) were smokers. I like the puff on an occasional cigar, but seriously people, take that shit outside!!

This set if up for grabs.....for FREE. to anybody in the club I just wanted to save the set from fate. If no one wants the set, I'll try to sell it. No sell? Well, they'll become parted out.

Those two cleaned up nicely! I'm glad someone spoke up for them. I like the gas emblem on the dryer. I have a 208/408 pair in white (gas dryer) and it lacks the symbol. Too bad they stopped using that little gas promotion.

That little gas symbol is the same symbol that Easy used to use on their early 1960s gas dryers!

Maybe the gas symbol should be required by law.

When I sold appliances for Sears, it used to amaze me how many potential customers had NO IDEA if their dryer was gas or electric.

To save the $50 exra a gas dryer costs, many wanted an electric one with no concept that operitng costs (in my area) weoudl triple, and that they are not plug-and-play, and need a dedicated heavy-duty 220 line.

Even stranger if shoppers did not know what their stove/cooker utilzes as an energy source.

P.S. perhaps there should be a $150 tax on electric dryers so that they end up costing $100 more than the gas ones. This will encourage users/builders to go after the gas ones which tend to be greener unless one's electric is sourced from hydroelectric or solar.

Looks pristine compared to what I found in my LA208. It looked like it was covered in woolly mammoth fur. I ended up having to clean every hole out with a toothpick. Ick.

You did an incredible job of cleaning that pair. I hope a member out your way can give them a home; they're too handsome to become donor machines. And I don't even like Harvest.

Beautiful A206 set. I grew up with the white version of the washer without the pilot light; it lasted almost 27 years without need for repair except for a timer replacement. The black Powerfin brings me back. This, and the dryer are workhorses with which whoever buys them cannot go wrong.

Have a good one,
James

Well, this is where I'm at right now. I had one person interested in the set but they haven't returned my email. I didn't want the new owner to deal with a damper pad replacement. Since I wanted the older base and round motor for one of my 806's/702 (haven;t made a decsion which machine I'll install it one yet), I'm deciding on swapping the newer base that has good damper pads and installing a newer motor/carriage. Otherwise, I think she'll be parted out.

Before I part her out, anybody still interested? I'll clean and out her back together if there's any interest.

Damper pads

qsd-dan's profile picture
This is what happens if you don't lube the damper pads avery 20 years or so. Luckly (and I mean luckily) the damper has not grinded into the base yet.

So.....go lube those damper pads right now, dammit!! LOL!
