well i'm on a roll this week so i decided to work on the pond pump a bit this afternoon as the weather is great here in cinti!

the pond pump itself puts out 4250 gal per hour i found out today by calling jones fishery where i bought it. they have everything you could ever need for a pond!

i decided to do away with the hose and mount the hydrosweep/toilet flange directly above the pump.

here is the pump

THE NEXT STEP

will be to fine tune it. as steve on this site suggested i am going to seal the mating surface of the toilet flange/wash arm support. i am also going to plug several holes on the hydrosweep. at least the one in the extreme center and if there are any on the bottom of the sweep, them too.

there are several bolt holes and one side hole on the support that i'm going to plug so the next time i do a post all the water will be coming out the hydrosweep.

and finally i am going to mount that toilet flange on a board that will float and the pump will be directly below the board and float in the water.

the length of 1 1/2 pvc pipe between the pump and flange will be shortened. this should provide max flow! and this way pump will not be setting in mud at edge of pond or in a tub. entire fountain will be floated to center of pond and anchored there with rope i guess. i would use fishing line but am afaid duke might get tangled in it. it is still his pond!

i will do a final post when i get all this fine tuning done!
all in all i am pleased with the results and it is beginning to look like that magazine ad i saw back in 1971!

to be continued...

That is great! Send a photo to Hobart!

Duke certainly has his eyes rivited to something----does he eat a lot of frogs?

Gyrofoan

shouldn't that be "ribbited?"

Great going, Soberleaf.

This is great!

You should send this to Hobart and beg them to come back with a household dishwasher. Or, you could send this to Whirlpool and let them know that this is the way a true Kitchen Aid should work.

i agree

modern dishwasher companies should take note! what with those little tiny 1/6 h.p. motors and miniscule pumps that can only wash one rack at a time (in the name of water conservation ofcourse) you could barely aerate an aquarium with one of them!

thanks for all the encouragement. next week i will mount it, seal it and float it! wow, sounds kinky!

and yes, duke has eaten all my frogs. when i had that pond dug in 2003 i filled it with tadpoles. had over 100 frogs at one time. then duke the crazy weimeraner arrived on the scene and it was a genocide to rival what we did to the american indian! almost! i don't like to kill animals but he loves the pond too much for me to keep him out of it. it is his number one passion like me and my dishwashers. i just don't stock it with any tadpoles anymore. just goldfish.

Wow!
That is lot's of fun! I bet your puppies took off running!
I bet that the hydro is turning slowly because it does not have any walls to bounce off of. (spray wise)
Are you going to rig some racks on top of it next and run a few loads of dishes?
Thanks for the pictures!
Glad your prayers got through.
Brent

AWESOME!!

I'll bet Brent is right about nothing to push against - but slowly turning is very dramatic too!

Great job, I've always wanted a HydroSweep sprinkler but the pond pump is much more fun!
