I have never Seen a GE dryer with "Sanitize". Too cool! Love the oven! Did you get them at an estate sale? Brent |

I think the dryer may have an ulta violet light inside the drum. Didn't some washers have those too for awhile? You may want to check to see if the bulb is working. Does the Sanitize light come on? |

Very cool finds - what a great "trash dryer" to stumble upon! The "Sanitize" selection on the controls was quite likely a higher thermostat cutoff temp than the "Normal" or other settings. GE did this a few years back on their modern dryers, merely an over-dry setting really. Continue tumbling the clothes with the heat on until the exhaust temp reached a certain point - probably 150-160F or so. The germicidal bulbs were way too dangerous by this point to be used in appliances - cancer! What model is your dryer, Brian, I'll see if have the service book to tell for sure. |
