In order to get the Frigidaire and (when it's ready) the Westy L5 into the basement, I have to make room and that means having to give up some vintage appliances...
Here's the first item I am hoping to sell - the 68 Simplicity Wringer. It works great but I haven't used it in nearly 8 years now!

Money shot

It's a bit dirty, but solid! Note the unusual white agitator.

How much?

Would you ship it to Brazil? (of course I'll pay for the freight)

Old Hoover compact wringer

turquoisedude's profile picture
I actually inherited this machine! I have had it for over 12 years and never used it! It was working when I last had the guts to plug it in (about 5 years ago now). The drain hose has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. Wringer rollers are still good, but cracking.

If I get it, please also consider it's weight plus the tub full of American laundry products.(Tide, Arm & Hammer, Borax, Bounce, etc.)

Do you have msn or yahoo? If so, please add thomasortega19@hotmail.com

Ok, the ball is in motion - I have requested quotes from 4 international movers. It may take a day or two to get the answers, but I will let you know by email what comes up. Check my profile and if necessary, please add my email address to you contact list. I hope this won't be incredibly expensive... I paid nearly $3500 US to get the GE kitchen from Texas to Ogden!

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

That's what I pay to bring a 40HQ Ft container full of electronics from Hong Kong to Paraguay.

Somebody please call 911 and bring me a defibrilator.

Please tell them it's only a junk washing machine that doesn't work and will never be able to be fixed, but I'm going to use it as a flower vase.

You can use any mexican soap opera script. cry, make some drama, make them believe this is just a POS.

Of course it's not but... if it helps to reduce the freight price, who cares?

Yeah, I almost got divorced over that... Trouble is that I had no clue who to call and time is never on my side. Keep your fingers crossed about the quotes I've requested...
BTW - I actually visited Paraguay (well walked over the bridge) and Argentina when I was down in Igassu.

... So you know how the hell is..

I have to cross that F***ing bridge every day as I work in Paraguay. Everything is too ugly, dirty and poor here. There's a huge contrast between Iguassu and CDE.

Do you have any plans to visit iguassu again?

If so, please let me know.

I love to host, specially AW members. Ask Jbuscemi.

I would love to!

Just don't know when... I was there because Hubby was attending a conference.
But you are so right about the contrast between Iguassu and CDE... It was unbelievable to think how much things could change from one side of the bridge to the other!

Guy, I'll have to snap some more for you this weekend. I'll get you some close-ups of the tub, wringer, cord and drain hose. I may get brave enough to plug it in, too...

IIRC, this is a Canadian-made one - from the plant that used to be in Burlington, ON.

US laundry products

I'm surprised that stuff like Tide isn't easy to find in Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. I went to Ecuador a few years ago, and most US consumer products were easily available. Many were expensive, but available.

One fun thing to do in any foreign country is to go to a grocery store to see what familiar items are or aren't there.

Thor, that looks like Tide. I suppose that it could still be a little different, though. I believe Thomas could be wanting those detergents for display items as much as for use.

Yes, we have many of the products here in brazil and in argentina too

But for example Tide is Ace here but the formula is completelly different. (Starting by the blue powder)

Borax and washing soda can't be found.

There's a small store in paraguay that sells american products, but only foods and beverages. Smuckers syrups, Gatorade powder (that can make a few buckets) and a range of Lee iacocca's olive oil products. BUT THEY DON'T HAVE CLEANING OR LAUNDRY PRODUCTS

Thank God I have a great friend that sends by mail or bring by himself the american products.

Among the products are the two products I've never seen before and now I love, Borax and Washing soda.

Also, there are many brazilian products that can't be found in the US, like the soda "Guarana Antarctica" (maybe you can find in specialized stores).

Now in Brazil we have the Ace Liquid, which is exactly like the American regular Tide (not the concentrated version), but it smells like Ace, not like Tide.

Sam

After reading the quotation sent by a brazilliann moving company ("only" 50 thousand american dollars to bring this machine to brazil), i decided to give up, unfortunatelly.
Of course i would never pay all that money for a freight. Probably this machine will be yours.

Please contact Paul.
