I've changed the belts on the 806 and have a problem with agitation. It speeds up and slows down during agitation, any ideas as to what is causing this?

I don't work on Maytags very often, but did you clean the pulleys before putting on the new belts?

I cleaned the pulleys. I just ran a small load through it, and it didn't slow down and speed up. The washer was set for suds return when I did the video. I don't know if this had anything to do with the slow down and speeding up or not.

Check the motor carriage - be sure the "wheels" or slides are intact and lubed so the motor can move forward and back as necessary.

I was able to lube the right slide, but couldn't get to the left slide the side panel is in the way.

Get a new motor spring and roller/glide kit. If those parts are original, they're LONG overdue for replacement. Part# 205000. The kit is runs about $5.00

I agree, a new slide kit is in order. The only hard part is removing the pulley.Otherwise, it's pretty straightforward job.

Dan is this the contents of the kit you are talking about?

There's a extra slot for a 3rd spring, I have on ocassion put a 3rd one on there, is this not advised, sometimes it seemed to slip too much, even after cleaning, for most part worked better...just wondered if I was doing damage to the machine...

tanks for any info....

Make sure motor moves soomly in track and pump belt is not to tight adjust to specs otherwise your top agitator shaft bearings are tight time for major transmission repair or replacement

The belts are fine. The pump belt seemed a little loose, but once I put the front back on and bolted the top back down it tightened up a little but not to tight. I think I will replace the springs and rollers and see what happens.

Yep. The kit will also come with 2 small tubes of poly lube.

You shouldn't need the 3rd spring. It won't hurt the machine, but it'll probably reduce the life of the motor and transmission belt a little bit.

My local Maytag dealer has the kit for the same price as RepairClinic.com, and I don't have to pay for the shipping.
