In another thread, I posted pictures of the Kenmore 500 washer I'm using.

It has a friend--a matching 500 dryer. (Model # on Id plate is bit hard to read, but it's somethinglike 110-6908510w00). I don't use it, since I air dry. Like the washer, it appears to be cosmetically worn, but it does appear to work.

This is the control panel:
-Left is temperature (high, low, and air settings)
-Center is timer. 3 cycles (Regular, Delicate, and Permanent Press.) The odd thing--at least in comparison to Kenmores I've seen in the past (which were probably higher in the line)--is that all cycles appear to be timed in minutes.
-Button on right is the "start" button.

Inside. Drum is quite time-worn.

u know whats funny, whirlpool still uses the same design today, it is a foolproof good design!! u could easily get 30 years out of this dryer, i have replaced a few motors on these before, but it is a simple job, my aunts motor went on her kenmore dryer, i replaced it, the original motor had 20 years on it already, it should be good for another 20.

The old motors on these would last 20-30 years without a hitch, but I have heard that the newer Chinese motors will poop out as soon as 6 months. Yet another reason I use vintage parts where I can.

kenmore 500 dryer

Hi, If you need extra knobs for this dryer,I think I have a set. I would love to get this model dryer. I had one years ago,but the people trashed it so bad,I could only use for parts. Very best regards,Walt

I'll bet the dryer and the matching washer look great side by side. I must say the start button is kind of interesting. I never saw one quite like it.

Have a good one,
James

Thanks for the comments.

I don't need knobs--they are the one part that's in good condition!

It's hard to say how this looks like by the washer--they are opposite parts of the laundry room. But they certainly look like they belong together--even a quick, casual glance the first time I saw this set told me that.
