I had a KD21 for years & years. Started to make noise & leak a little. Here is the bad mistake, I bought a new KA. After Sears replaced it once & the second one was used for 2 months I banished it to the storage. Has been there 5 or 6 years. Cycles take way toooo long & did not clean near as well. Sure tall tub was nice BUT.

Ever since W'pool took them over, their quality, performance and reputation have gone to hell.Look what W'pool did to Chambers and Maytag's laundry line and you'll see their pattern.

Doesn't surprise me one bit!! Best advice is to look for an older one in good shape!! You can't beat a KDS 18!! IMHO

Looks exactly like mine on the inside, although the outside door is different. Mine is circa-late-2004 and although the cycles are long (regularly 75+ minutes) it cleans everything very well and is reasonably quiet. I did have to get the pump replaced once, but that's about it for problems.

Anybody else have this model?
