Love that! You know that boy in the flared-shoulder apron is thinking "I'm prettier than her and always will be!"

I hope they didn't strip that cast-iron pan washing it in that soapy water...

Thanks for the super-sized PODs, Robert - they are so much fun!

While I could be wrong, from what I've read elsewhere, Westinghouse introduced the LAUNDROMAT (slope-front cab with an art deco-like styling, inner door with detergent dispenser chute, and all) circa 1940-41.
The artwork had fooled me for years, as apparently the inner door had a window. The machines went to one dial in 1948. By '49, the suspension had been redesigned, allowing for the now-familiar rubber boot encircling the tumbler opening, thus negating the need for an inner and outer door; the latter now incorporating a window. The "water saver" feature also appeared on these models; the "weigh-to-save" scale followed a year or so later.

Weren't these machines great? So simple. A couple of dials, and yes water.............. lol lol The wash was done quick and came out clean and rinsed properly. I had a Westinghouse LT800E and that was the best machine I ever had. It was only used for a few years, then brought back into use, and then it would not spin, so I threw it out. I bought the machine in 1884 and used it till 1991, then brought it back in operation about 5 years ago, but then threw out when it stopped spinning. How stupid of me.

Well honey what do you

expect of a washer from 1884 héhé... Stil it's a good principal. Why just not going back to that concept + having a sudsreturn system! Everyone is happy then!

Yes, Yay for the new P.O.D, i have noticed they are "new" and improved too, thanks Robert. In the archives, CU complained that you could pinch your fingers, scrape your knuckles, something like that, with the proximity of the "soap chute" to the door latch. This P.O.D. really clears up what they were talking about.
