i was not expecting anything like that! the kind comments and the personal e mails, overwhelming! i really appreciate it very much!

i am feeling much better about the whole thing, it was a huge shock and letdown but again it's only a washer! and now it's inside in the middle of a tear down. i will say one thing about dropping it off my truck and destroying the top, i am not afraid to tear into it now! what damage could i possible do! after dumping it out of my truck on it's top i'm sure nothing else could faze it! and it will run again!

i think a common note from everyone was to get on with life and stop beating myself up over it! that's always been a bit hard for me to do when i screw up and lately i have not been going to meetings or working much of a recovery program so again you can be sober 12 years, 20 years, 30 years and still be on a "dry drunk" as we call it. and lately i have been a dry drunk with a serious case of the "RIDS" which is restless irritable and discontent! so i have to get back to basics here! which is going to meetings and workin a program that includes a lot of gratitude for what i do have in life!

i definately have a joan crawford in me, guess somewhere there is a judy garland. she would have just kept on singing as she always did no matter what personal hell she was facing at the time. and i do love her song "smile", funny how it surfaced at michael jackson's funeral last week. but i've got more of a marilyn in me than anything else! marilyn would have allowed herself a good dose of "poor me, poor me, pour me a drink" for a while then done a 90 degree turnabout and looked back on it and laughed! and after fixing it up and getting it running again she would probably have said "gee, i kinda like it better this way!"

so that's what i'm gonna do, tear it down and learn how they assemble, then put it back together and if i can't find a top it will be topless! marilyn would get a kick out of a topless washer! reminds me of a statement she made in an intervierw shortly before she died, referring to her nude calender she did before she was famous. "i always had this thing for red velvet" she told the interviewer visiting her in her newly bought and completely unfurnished home. "i always knew i'd end up nude on red velvet!".

so maybe i should drape this poor machine in red velvet and leave it topless! if i can salvage the timer and switches i am going to mount them on a board above the washer, if i can't i will use switches to manually control all it's functions. lots of ideas swimming around my head here!

so again thanks so much for all the kind words and notes of encouragement, i was very surprised, i was not expecting anything like that! i do appreciate it and will do a post of this machine in "tear down" mode very soon here. perhaps later tonite, if not in the next couple days.

and yes, i am still looking for a 1965 custom imperial that has not been dropped off a truck so if anyone ever hears of one please let me know! we'll see if i can get it home in one peice!

Peter, you are very welcome. I couldn't post anything on the thread because I was soo upset because you were hurting, plus selfishly, those 1965 Custom Imperials have a very special place in my heart and my heart was breaking along with yours. Bob

No matter what kind of crap life throws at you, there is always a way to turn it around! One of the joys of collecting is the pursuit of the elusive 'dream machine' - enjoy the ride! Just imagine what wonderful things you will find on the way!!
And thank you for all your posts and pictures and once again, thank you very, very much for your references to Modern Parts. Your reminder about this place helped bring some of my projects closer to completion!

Something Good

 Something good always comes along after a mishap.If anything a lesson. I have always been Mr.Clumsy.One thing though maybe not today or tomorrow sometning better comes along.Think about all of the members who may slow down and do a double take and not be in such a hurry.One mans disaster may have saved many others from doing the same thing.Just remember save the old one a better one will come along when you least expect it.
