That particular one is just an Indesit/Hotpoint I think

Therefore nothing but trouble. These seem to be extremely common machines around here, a number of my friends have them and they're always going wrong as you would expect!

The older margherita's of the 80's/90's were much better, pretty decent machines if I'm honest.

Will they launch the Ariston Cosmopolitan or The Ariston Sex on the Beach someday? LOL

I had the 1500 spin one for about a year from brand new. It washed rinsed and spun very well. However although mine didn't break under warranty they are known to be pretty unreliable with bearing failures and main board failures, plus the plastic worktops and facias were liable to crack on many of them. I've seen loads like that. So a pretty machine but have a tool kit handy. I'd still have one though! Its a nice design.

Good for the dump! If you take a stroll here in town there is avery good chance you can spot a margherita ariston near a trash can. A friend of mine saw his neighbour rushing its three years old margherita near the trash can and when the owner left he rescued it for me! it had the drum completely stuck! you could not move it at all! it turned out the gasket around the drum hole
apparently grew in size and completely blocked the drum movement. I decided to give it a chance and I replaced the door seal with an original spare part. After that I tested it for a while. It not only wasn't able to get rid of common stains, it banged loudly and moved like it was haunted when spinning. I also tried the famous cachemire cycle! Fantastic if you have to quickly whip up cream! I ended up giving it to a friend who after only two weeks got rid of the damn thing!
One day he came home and found the machine sitting on a side!!!
The drum was again stuck and he decided to quickly discard it!
Not bad for a three years old machine, uh?

Yes my Arison had the powerstream wash action I had the A1535 model in 2004. It had 3 different wash rythems during the wash plus of course the wool wash with the long one way distribution wash seen on Hotpoints.

badge ?

Hey guys,
do you still have the separate 2 badges there ?
Here now is all double badged Ariston-Hotpoint instead of Ariston.

Marco, I guessed Ariston were slightly better than Indesit, Candy and Whirlpool, as the Margherita have double hinged doors (indesit have just one hinge).

Ariston is only sold through a shop called Curry's here.Nobody else sells it.Nearly everyone sells Hotpoint and Indesit.

Thankfully!

my friend had one and within 9 months the board was replaced 4 times as it kept burning out after 13 months the bearings failed and it got dumped waste of £330

Well I lived in a shared house some years ago that had an Ariston and it was a real workhorse. It had been there 4 years when I arrived and lasted a further 7 years. As you can imagine it was thoroughly abused by the many tenants and never broke down. Washed and rinsed well. Like wise the Candy BOL dishwasher which was put in at the same time (about 1997) and is STILL in daily use and the only thing wrong with it is the detergent dispenser is bust so you have to put the powder on the door.

You can get good and bad with every brand....

BUT, going from the Choice reliability ratings, Ariston is at the bottom of the ladder with well over 30% of respondants reporting faults in the previous 12months....

I wouldn't have one if you gave it to me....

I didnt realise Ariston were that bad!My Mams friend has the A1435 model. It spins at a maximum of 1400rpm.

Post# 366581 , Reply# 24   7/24/2009 at 04:48 (5,361 days old) by hotpoint9534 (UK)

Indesit should be ashamed of the quality of electronics they fit to these machines. As Bertrum says, they are absolutely apalling. They have just about the highest failure rate of any machine, even higher than Servis possibly?! Just looking at the machine in the wrong way can cause the electronics to fall over.

There should be some kind of minimum standard these things are built to. It's all very well having 'A' rated cycles but if they are only going to last a couple of years before scrapping, the environmental cost of producing the machines in the first place is shocking. It's far more environmentally friendly to get a 'D' rated machine that'll last 20 years in that respect.

Someone will be telling me how good 'Haier' is next.

Tom.

We have a new hotpoint Aquarius and it is better than expected.I was expecting the paddles to fall of when you looked at them or someting lol.

Haier

Well your gonna laugh at this. My Hotpoint Aqualtis has now broke down, Hotpoint quoted me it would cost over £200 to repair. At moment money is tight, so I bought a Haier.

Up to know it seems to be ok. You can set a load level, and on full load it has deep rinses on cotton cycle.

Will let you all know if it does break down, lol.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul,

You said you will let us know 'IF' it breaks down, you should have said 'WHEN' it breaks down.
Trust me it will!

good luck mate.

Haier

Hi Guys.

Thanks for advice. I looked at Indesit machines, but they looked such poor quality. Also looked at Beko, once had a Beko dishwasher that only lasted 1 year as the pump had broken.

Gonna save up and buy either a Mile, my parents got one and is over 10 years old and never had any trouble with it, or the new Panasonic, as they look so good.

Costco have got Whirlpool machines in, and their front loader model is massive.

Anyway guys, thanks for advice, :-(.

Regards

Paul

Hotpoint Aqualtis

Hi Guys.

My door on my Hotpoint Aqualtis model AQXXF149PM is broken. Managed to get it back on, but the machine wont work as the display keeps on saying "door" and flashes all the time.

I know I can buy a new door from Hotpoint for about £117. Just wondered would it be easy to fit a new door on.

Also, has anyone seen the new Argos. Bush has a few washing machines in Argos and they look like Haier. Does Haier make Bush machines?

Paul

Hi paul,
Those doors on the aqualtis and extendia are connected by a cable which connects to the pcb through the side of the door hing, if you open the door you'll see this white cable, i believe it just connects straight through. dont quote me on it!!

Lol i've just been lookin in the new argos book and seen the haiers hiding under different names bush mainly and argos own make is now Haus instead of HEC...very dodgy, reminds me of dodgy back door companys who do midnight flits in the night and vanish lol.

I used to love the Indesit, but now hate them. I prefer to buy the Ariston, there is a good program.

Ariston Magherita 2000 is good too, as they have different types of drum rotation, and three distribution 90 rpm (like Hotpoint WMA series) but this is only on the Cotton programmes.

Roman.
