While on the subject of Chinese-made General Electric dishwashers brought up by johnb300m, does anyone know what foreign-made components are used in Whirlpool and Kenmore top-load washing machines, such as my new Kenmore 500 series? I'm curious....

I think direct drive washers use timers and switches from foreign sources, but most everything else is made in this country.....I think the motors are from Emerson...whether they source from overseas, I don't know. I do know that there is a line of aftermarket motors for Whirlpool laundry..prolly made in China. Have seen them on Ebay as well.
