Seller says circa 1927-1930. Is this >really< worth $300?

It isn't newer than 1940, that's for sure.

This particular machine is better looking than most of this age, but not worth $300. I see them in working condition for as low as $50. I believe these wringers are referred to as the "Gray Ghosts."

This one is a little rough, but for the price, you can put a little $$ into it and come out ahead with a beautiful example of an early Maytag wringer.

This overpriced wringer with 'horse head' has been listed before. I think the washer has been repainted but am not sure. Must be related to the guy with the overpriced Maytag top loader set...

we need a listing of current value of machines for sale, to help those who wish to purchase machines and not get taken to the cleaners.....some people do over price these vintage machines and it would be nice to know what would be a fair descent price, I know variables of age and condition apply, but a general rule of thumb would help many....

Really, the value is in the beholder, so to speak. Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for that item on that particular day. Something that may really be only worth $50 may be worth $250 to someone else. I don't think there could ever be an accurate guide on values of most old appliances. For example, I tend to junk a lot of older belt drives & even 06/07 maytags. The reason? In my business, that's all they're worth. To someone else, the pieces might have a value. But waiting & finding the right person is tough. Warehouse space at a premium. I go back to saying, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

RCD is right; that "green" Maytag with the horse tie-up has been repainted (wrong color, no less) and the casters are all wrong. This has been on eBay before.

I'm not sure why the horse tie-up is there; it looks like a hose coming out of the bottom of it.

I think he's trying to get that price for the multi-motor underneath it; still way too steep.

If the seller thinks this is so valuable ... well ... maybe he (or she) should just hang on to it!! Pricing is what the market will bear, I suppose.

Here's my 1930 Model A that I purchased for $50 about 15 years ago and had painted the "right" Maytag gray/green. This machine was still in use by the 2nd owners at their summer lake home and when they gave up the home, it was stored in their garage. It fired right up and operated smoothly. Granted, it doesn't have a multi-motor on it, but it has the original GE electric motor; does that count? :-)

I've seen those horse heads before. Usually they are set up to blow exhaust smoke out of the nostrills every time the hit & miss engine goes. It's neat but not worth the $.
