Well, our Bosch dishwasher seems to be having some heating issues! It now WASHES for over 5 hours (rinses takes even more time) and when the wash is done, the water is barely warm! The dishes are still wet when it finishes, it's not getting grease off the dishes! We ONLY use the Power Scrub Plus cycle! I first noticed a problem when the "Sanitized" light no longer came on at the end of the cycle a couple of days ago, I thought that the light had just burned out, but then the dishes were all wet as well as the inside of the dishwasher, not to mention the dishes were quite cool... Usually, they are WAYYYYYY too hot to touch when the cycle is done! Does this sound like an expensive fix? It's about 3 years old, it gets run 3 times a DAY on average as we are a household of 5 but we usually have about 7 people over for dinner. We have the breakfast/lunch load that is run around 1pm, then the load of pots and pans from making dinner which is started around 7pm, then the midnight load of all the dishes from dinner!

Heating element burnt out?
A wire feeding the heater dangling/broken?
Bad control board?
High-limit thermostat defective?

And remember, it's only "efficient" if it's GETTING THE JOB DONE with fewer resource. Using fewer resources and accomplishing nothing is just WASTING resources. *LOL*

I'm not sure if we'll end up getting it fixed, living without a dishwasher, or getting a new one... **sigh**

Terry, I would LOVE to get myself a vintage KitchenAid!!!!! However, mom doesn't like the idea unless it's never been used... She has this fear of using something that has someone else's "filth" as she puts it... Wouldn't hurt to ask though!!! lol

Listen when you buy a house don't you sometimes get a used DW with it?

Are't you putting a fork that has been in someone else's mouth in yours everytime you go visiting, or go to a restaurant?

I say hot water detergent and bleach and you are good-to-go!

Some things are best not overly thought-out!

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd the diagnosis....

pulsator's profile picture
Control unit is bad, $160
Motor is bad, $187
Drain pump is bad, $40
Service call fee $68
Repair job fee once parts arrive, $102
Total = $557

That is if we get all the parts replaced, mom thinks just a new circuit board will do... The motor bearing has been bad since day one but mom didn't want to take the time to have it fixed under warranty, so it could probably go any day now... **sigh**

We should've gotten a KitchenAid! lol

If you wind up looking for a new DW, check out the new top-of-the-line LG. They've just started listing it at the website. It has the silverware rack and steam. I love mine, and it's a great cleaner. It's very quiet, too.

The upper rack is adjustable, and it does come with a regular silverware basket for the lower rack if you prefer that method.

Here's a photo of the inside. You can't see the steam jets, they're located in the lower left front of the tub. The stainless steel in these machines is mirror-like. It has a food disposer, so no filters to clean.
