Welcome back, Steve. I miss you here in Atlanta. I love the 57 AMP, the last year of that design. I sure wish I had it. Thanks for the photos! Les |

Nice machines Steve! Hasn't the 140 AMP traveled across the US - IIRC it was at Greg's at one point, and even Jon Charles had it for a while? That tub is just MINT. The 140 I recently picked up from Cory is in great shape but the tub is shot. The 140 AMP is a first for a lot of Maytag features that would continue for years, most notably the center dial, full backlit panel, cold water wash and rinse (via a thermostatically controlled 3 way valve), and the first factory Maytag sudsaver. The 140 debuted in the summer of 1956. Good luck on the Unimatic rebuild. Will be a stunning machine when all is said and done! Ben |

Ben, I also rescued a '57 Duomatic. Mine is gas. Will have to call on you when I start the restoration. |

...when I saw it (the Duomatic) coming down the stairs at me, I threw my shoulder up at it, put my hand over my eyes, and started wimmpering like a little girl. Somehow it was Cory's attempt to stabalize the Bendix on the cart, or me putting my life on the line, or a combination of both, as the only reasons why I am alive while trying to get the 1957 Duomatic in my basement. I don't know how in the hell it will ever get out ;-) Ben CLICK HERE TO GO TO swestoyz's LINK |
