Okay all.. New guy here.. I am going to be picking up a new Inglis 2.5 CF washer.. The agitor I think is really crappy, and the Kenmore I have now has the corkscrew style.. What I want to know is, can I swap agitators? I think it would be a fun weekend project.. Any help would rock the house! Thanks!

You should be able to swap agitators as long as the Kenmore you have is also a 2.5 capacity. Is your current Kenmore a Direct Drive washer? Otherwise a belt drive will not fit.

Inglis and Kenmore are both manufactured by Whirlpool.

Hope this helped.

Pat

You cannot use a Super Capacity direct drive agitator (3.0 cu ft) in an Extra large capacity washer (2.5 cu ft) as the base is too big and small articles of clothing will get lodged between the fins and the base. If the Kenmore you have is extra large capacity then you can swap them.

I dont know anything about the current unit.. It is old.. Almost as old as me.. Here is a link to an auction that is for a unit that is identical to mine.. EVen down to the Agitator in question (Im sure you've all seen the base ROPER agitators.. Dont look too effective..):

Visual comparisons, Id say the Inglis and the Kenmore are both XL capacity.. Ill know for sure when I get the Inglis here on tuesday.. I know the Kenmore is a direct drive, and the Inglis is as well.. Plus, I like the old school "DUAL ACTION" on top, lmao..

Maybe make one that says "SURGILATOR".. That sounds so cool..

My last washer was a DD Whirlpool super capacity BOL machine. It had the super surgilator agitator in it. Very effective turnover with that agitator. The agitators in the BOL Ropers are similar and should give decent turnover.

Hmmm... Ill give it a shot.. I'll give the Inglis agi a shot.. I just wanted to see if it were possible.. For example, we sell two 3.2 CF GEs at Besy Buy.. One is an entry level.. Option wise, and the tub has the big holes in the side, and is flat.. The agitator has small fins going down the sides.. The upgraded model has more features, and the wash tub has a lot more tiny holes going up the wash tub, with ridges about 3 inches apart.. the agitator is the same one, only it has a corkscrew.. So I was figurin why can't my "Fancy IAX4000" have one too? lol.. Thanks for all the replies guys.. Just to let you all know, I think Im here for a while.. I found my new hobby :)

Are Inglis washers common in Minnesota?

Actually I saw an Inglis refrigerator, DW, and W/D set in the last Best Buy ad. They were all BOL so I wonder if Whirlpool's using Inglis as a BOL brand here, alongside Roper?

Curious-

Because for years, "Inglis" was the Whirlpool brand in Canada, and in recent years, Whirlpool brand has finally been marketed in Canada.

Whirlpool
(Kenmore-some)
KitchenAid
Roper
Estate
Inglis

IMHO- It's so that Best Buy can say "EXCLUSIVE"

Speaking of which, Louis and I were in Best Buy today and I was curious about gas scratch-and-dent dryers (on my wish list currently). We looked at all of those machines and determined that the dryers were electric. When the salesman came over and I asked about scratch-and dent gas dryers he proceeded to tilt the machine forward to look for the little gas pipe.

UMM you might want to try reading the label by the door, there sir... .

Try his mehthod in a bar/club/disco to determine gender, and see how long you last!!

LOL there are probably better ways!!!

Inglis in MN

Yea.. Prolly so we can just say "Best Buy EXCLUSIVE!"..

I think that they cosmetically look better that the Ropers (As far as Dial markings go).. And the smooth top is pretty slick lookin.. I had the IAS5000 apart along with a Whirlpool 6200.. Looked the same inside.. Just a different shell.. Oh.. Can anyone post me a pic (Closeup) of a Whirlpool Surgilator cap? (The one that says it right on top).. I am going to make my own cap from scratch so it says that.. Just cause it sounds so freakin cool..

I've lived in Minnesota since Lyndon Johnson was in office and never saw the Inglis imprint. In fact, I hadn't heard of it until I started visiting this site....
