My friend Carol, recently progressed to a front loading automatic and knowing of my fondness for anything old and retro looking asked do I want a twin tub before I take it to the tip, naturally I said yes.

Its a Hotpoint 9414 with automatic rinsing system all complete and in fantastic condition, no leaks, very quiet and does everything it should. Even got it delivered to my first floor flat all fo free of charge.

Nice one Matt, that`ll keep you happy for more than a few years!!!make sure you get some Sainsburys bio powder to use in it...the one that says "New Improved Fragrance" on the box before they replace it!!!! Danksy put it through its paces and its the only powder to drop the suds at the first rinse in a twinny!!!

Here is the first 1960 model with the last one in Almond, Happy Washing!!! Mike

OOOHHH nice!!! I had that model when I was at college and even though it was a twin tub, I was the envy of my fellow students as they had to use the disgusting local laundrettes!! As soon as I see a picture of a Hotpoint Twin Tub, I get the smell of Radion in my nostrils as that is what I used. That smelled so good, I wish they would bring it back :-(

Cool Hotpoint Twin-tubs!

Hello Matt (and Mike) - very cool machines! Don't think those Hotpoints were ever marketed in Canada, at least, I don't remember them. Love that they have the filter-flo system.

I'm still trying to source a Simplicity/Speed Queen SuperTwin.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Brad

Lovely machine! We didn't get many of those twintubs, the Netherlands were more focussed on the AEG Turnamats and the Zanker Intimats. Still I would love to have a British twintub, Hoover or Hotpoint, with an automatic rinse and spin feature. Well, who knows what turns up!

Twinnys

chestermikeuk's profile picture
Having had the first Hotpoint twinny for years and not used it because of a cracked pump, now have a great affection for this restored machine, its sooo solid & heavy, cast iron cradle and just purrs away...the spinner is a whoosh up to 3,100rpm and the filter flow is stunning with red accents...the other good feature is its height which as a tall one is great, the later machines are just too low IMHO!!!

heres what it looks like underneath, and its cabinet back from the "Spa of Neil"

Hey Mike, the contruction of that old Hotpoint is really interesting. I like the light-blue enamel wash-tub a lot and with the red filter hat it's pretty awesome. I would love more pics and info on this machine possibly via e-mail? I definately want to learn more about this little guy. It looks built like a tank, is it quiet or loud? My e-mail is in my profile.

-Tim

I'm with Tim! Interesting pic of a great machine! Wish I could find some of those(one will do!) here in western Canada!

Love those twin-tubs!
