Though I would do a little thread on mechanical timers. There are three main types used:- Thermo stop. Temperature plus time. Hybrid. First photo is a Zanussi thermo stop. Thermo stop timer wash while heating and use a solenoid in circuit with the thermostats normal 40c 60c 95c to stop the timer advancing to the next stage till the selected temperature is reached. SOLENOID IS THE BLUE CYLINDER ON THE BACK OF THE TIMER. |

Second photo is a Hotpoint temperature plus time. Temperature plus time units use static heating (no wash action) up to a fixed thermostat of 40C and 50c, when this is achieved the timer motor starts running and completes the cycle, for other tempters like 60c, is reached by timed heating cycles normal 2c for every one minute of heating. NO SOLENOID ON THE BACK. |
