Hi all! I have a Maytag front loader that was made for the Australian market. It is a rebadged Hoover 7 model with Maytag badge on it.

Its been a great machine for the last 5 years but last night I had a problem with it, and I thought someone here might be able to help.

Washing cycle was fine, but it started playing up on the rinse cycle. It was rather noisy so I went to look at it. When rinsing the machine fills to a point. Then it starts to tumble and the recirculation jet kick in. It proceeds to keep filling with water till it is just lapping at the bottom of the seal.

However it filled up to the first point, then tumbled and the water jet came on. However no more water entered and then the jet stream got weak as there was not enough water and the pump started drawing air through it, making a gurgling noise.

I thought it might be a one off occurence, so I put it on again this morning for its final rinse and it did the same thing again. Of course this time I was on hand and added a jug of water through the dispenser drawer and all was well. However I cant be on hand all the time to add extra water.

So dear friends, what do you think may be wrong with it, and would it be easy to fix? I have just moved house and spent a fortune on different items, so I dont really want to be buying a new one.

Thanks in Advance!

Hoover problem

it depends how far you are prepared to delve inside the machine.

I personaly would check the water level switch tube is not blocked with cacked up detergents Find the water level switch and follow the air tube down to where it is connected to the drum (on older machines it connects to a small plastic vessel), i know on older Hoover machines if this becomes blocked or partially blocked the machine wont spin,or wash there are various symptons

I presume it has a seperate pump for the jet rinse, make sure this is not blocked

You could try putting the machine on a boil wash a few times as this would help remove detergent deposits.........i have never seen the insides of one these machines so i cannot really offer any more suggestions.

Service Top Loader

Hi Guys.

There is a Servis top loader on ebay, model M602TL. The person selling it says they have only washed with it about 6 times, and now it wont work.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. I tried running the boil wash, and I did washing this weekend again, and it worked this time. Thank goodness for that. I only use it twice a week, and it has given me good service, though I am starting to get a little bored with it, I still think it is a stylish looking machine.

Chestermike, I did move far, just one suburb to another, Ashfield to Campsie, in Sydneys Innerwestern area. I bought my own flat so I am very pleased, but very broke at the moment too!

Thanks heaps
Ash.
