dates it to May 1979! Yep - seems that Hoover were making matchboxes right to the end of the 1970s!!! |

ahhhhh so this is where the Hoover Zodiac came from. The Hoover Zodiac over here lacked a powder dispenser but did have that flip switch for controlling the spin. Its practically the same machine just with different stylings to make it Australianized and also to make it look like a match to the top loaders of the time. Can anyone else see the similarities? Awesome matching pair tho, always looks good. Takes me back to nursery when the kitchen in there had a matching pair of Hoovers of almost the same styling :-D Matt |

Hi Ash. As you say - simple. Absolutely nothing complicated about them - just a dial and a long/short spin button. still to get used to the lack of powder drawer though. Paul |

The origin of the A2E04 lays with the first version of the Hoover 3235 Automatic, first sold back in 1970. The replacement facia picture is courtesy of Mathew (keymatic3203)... |

Paul this is a brilliant set up (not that i am biased of course).......... In one of the fots, the door rubber appears to be the later type of door rubber that has the white plastic band clamp around it As far as I know these are not totally suitable on proud door, round door machines, if i am talking out of my ars. then ignore me But my AS1 has one of these fitted and i have noticed that it doesnt always seal properly, and i think you mentioned a dribble from this machine, in which case just replace it with the older fitting type and the problem should be sorted Yours Teknical ted Cornwall :-) |

Hello Paul Maybe it is ok then, only i bought a round door/proud door rubber and these dont use a band clamp and are the same profile as the keymatic one AS1 is supporting the ice box as present, going to order bearings and another (spare) door rubber........but im holding off for a while as i need to get a soap front (ice box handle is the same size)...........just a thought!
