Got an old Magic Chef W20HN2 that has seen better days. Only the delicate cycle works, on the others the unit won't agitate. Timer moves and it drains and spins if I recall correctly. It really has a huge tub, looks like it could hold a lot. Isn't this a Norge based unit?

Only thing that comes to mind is a bad motor, with the high speed winding burned out. Odds are it's not the timer, unless the contacts for regular speed are burned. Have not torn into it, I guess it could even be a loose connection. Any suggestions?

Going to trash it if it's not an easy fix, otherwise I'll donate it to a charity.

It could be a Norge, MattL. Check the agitator. If it has holes between the fins at the bottom, that would be a dead giveaway. Also, a Norge Magic Chef will usually have the lint filter over the agitator, similar to a GE Filter Flo. If that's the case, you may have a fairly rare machine that is probably worth fixing. Can you upload any photos?

the one thing I miss about my Norgetag...

Is it sure seemed like the tub was enormous compared to my Admir-pool. The tub was definitely wider, but perhaps not as deep.

Magic chef/Matt L.

I had an early 80's set i loved them. i look at and paid for the washer with the sideswing door and the above described filter. when it was delivered i got the newer model back hinged lid the burpulator was gone, had a self clean filter. The washer was great but the dryer was trouble prone, heat elements and rollers at least once every couple of years. I think these later ones evolved into the herrin made maytag performa's. I could be wrong.

It almost went to the trash yesterday, but I held on to it since i have a large rug or two that needs a good wash and I don't want it in my good machine.

If I remember I'll grab my camera and take a shot of two. No lint filter on the agitator, it's the straight vaned type.
