It's getting the going-through to prep it for full-time service. Yes. I know. Booting the indexing-tub 1989 Frigidaire? It was shocking for me, too. But hey, I like turnover as much as the next guy.

This machine is fundamentally in brilliant shape underneath and has a beautiful control panel, but has a bajillion chips and rust spots on the inner and outer tub that need addressing before it's pressed into full-time Activation. :-)

Plus, I need to fix the gouges in the outer tub from the forgotten/ignored off-balance loads that forever send these machines' inner tubs crashing into the outer ones...

I spent all afternoon hammering loose the tranny bolts to get the inner tub out. It became clear that, in unscrewing them, I was rethreading them, using the transmission hub as a die. Happily, they didn't break off, or else the neighborhood would have gotten an earful.

A "Living Room" is meant for living in - you're young and have plenty of time for the plastic-covered furniture and pinch pleated draperies and doilies on table tops!

So it's OK to have a Maytag wringer in the living room? Why do all my friends think I need therapy???

my living room

has 5 rollermatics and 3 frigidaire dryers in it at the present time! i took out all furniture, completely! i have a folding chair i stash between two of the rollermatics just in case i want to "sit a spell" which i never do anyway!

the one rollermatic is in the process of a complete rebuild so at times when i am working on it i have parts galore scattered around!

and i thought i was the only one!

Once I locate a nice E2LP wringer, it'll go right next to the harvest gold DE808 dryer :D

Chris you should have also shown a photo from the dining room towards the sofa. I don't know of anyone else I have ever seen who could pull off this mix with as much aplomb as you have. You have very good taste in decorating.

Can I still be a member if I don't have any washer parts in the dining room, but how about organ parts? Lots of pipes in 3 corners awaiting installation. I do have washer parts in the kitchen though. Gary

Pete, I love the vase. I really should contemplate accentuating stuff that way!

Dan, I love it, but what's that Custom Imperial thing? I don't recall Maytag ever making any of those. ;-)

Roger, all three of the transmission bolts required a hammer strike to get out to the last thread. I realized as I was removing them that I was basically using the tranny hub as a die to rethread them :-).

The hub is spectacularly corroded but structurally okay--they must have had nasty water, cheap detergent, or probably, both.

The POR-15 is curing as we speak...

Dan, that white one in the front row is my favorite dryer of all time. We had the gas model. It was a gem, so easy to use, and performed efficiently and flawlessly until one day the drum froze up.

gary, i hear from mike that you

can play with that organ of your's quite well!!!

as for the vase there are two and they came from "old time pottery" store here in cinti. their names are pete and gladys cause i bought the one then decided i wanted another. went back and finally found the only one like in the store but employee (named gladys) threw a fit when i asked to buy it as she was making a floral arrangement in it. i asked her to simply take the paper flowers out and sell me the vase and she threw a bigger fit! i called the manager and asked him to do it, he did, all the while gladys was complaining in the background about how she worked so hard on that arrangement and i was ruining her work! my friend who was with me told her it didn't even look that great to start, that made her even more mad! i reminded the manager that his store was there to sell things, to people, namely me in this case. people (me) who want to buy an overpriced peice of tin! he agreed and i heard gladys tell him as i left that if it was up to her she would not have sold it to me!

so i named them pete and gladys, one for her, one for me! and they sit on my frigidaires with fake flowers in them!

It pulled a fast one and snuck in there, attempting to imitate the clam shell control panel of the 806's, lol. I'll be bringing another dryer home of the HOH variety with a lighted console (don't want to ruin the surprise just yet). I think Mr. Frigidaire is beginning to shake in his boots. He may be kicked out of his cozy climate controlled home and be up for sale soon in order to make some room. I'll have to decide if there's going to be a third row of appliance or not.

You must have had a DG806. I quit using all of my HOH dryers earlier this year until I figured out how to tear the units all the way down to the drum bushings for a lubing/seal replacement. Even though I have several drum bushing kits, I didn't want to to end up with a frozen drum, like your situation. RCD schooled me in that department a couple of weeks ago, so now the fun begins!

You got appliances in every room in the house

You got 7 washers in one laundry room and have to go outside to change your mind

Gotta love that black Powerfin. Growing up with an A206 Maytag I never really knew how unique it was until I joined this club. Thanks for posting the pics.

Have a good one,
James
