It's getting the going-through to prep it for full-time service. Yes. I know. Booting the indexing-tub 1989 Frigidaire? It was shocking for me, too. But hey, I like turnover as much as the next guy. This machine is fundamentally in brilliant shape underneath and has a beautiful control panel, but has a bajillion chips and rust spots on the inner and outer tub that need addressing before it's pressed into full-time Activation. :-) Plus, I need to fix the gouges in the outer tub from the forgotten/ignored off-balance loads that forever send these machines' inner tubs crashing into the outer ones... I spent all afternoon hammering loose the tranny bolts to get the inner tub out. It became clear that, in unscrewing them, I was rethreading them, using the transmission hub as a die. Happily, they didn't break off, or else the neighborhood would have gotten an earful. |

Chris you should have also shown a photo from the dining room towards the sofa. I don't know of anyone else I have ever seen who could pull off this mix with as much aplomb as you have. You have very good taste in decorating. |

Can I still be a member if I don't have any washer parts in the dining room, but how about organ parts? Lots of pipes in 3 corners awaiting installation. I do have washer parts in the kitchen though. Gary |

Pete, I love the vase. I really should contemplate accentuating stuff that way! Dan, I love it, but what's that Custom Imperial thing? I don't recall Maytag ever making any of those. ;-) Roger, all three of the transmission bolts required a hammer strike to get out to the last thread. I realized as I was removing them that I was basically using the tranny hub as a die to rethread them :-). The hub is spectacularly corroded but structurally okay--they must have had nasty water, cheap detergent, or probably, both. The POR-15 is curing as we speak... |

"Dan, I love it, but what's that Custom Imperial thing? I don't recall Maytag ever making any of those. ;-)" It pulled a fast one and snuck in there, attempting to imitate the clam shell control panel of the 806's, lol. I'll be bringing another dryer home of the HOH variety with a lighted console (don't want to ruin the surprise just yet). I think Mr. Frigidaire is beginning to shake in his boots. He may be kicked out of his cozy climate controlled home and be up for sale soon in order to make some room. I'll have to decide if there's going to be a third row of appliance or not. "Dan, that white one in the front row is my favorite dryer of all time. We had the gas model. It was a gem, so easy to use, and performed efficiently and flawlessly until one day the drum froze up." You must have had a DG806. I quit using all of my HOH dryers earlier this year until I figured out how to tear the units all the way down to the drum bushings for a lubing/seal replacement. Even though I have several drum bushing kits, I didn't want to to end up with a frozen drum, like your situation. RCD schooled me in that department a couple of weeks ago, so now the fun begins! |
