I recently got a LG WM2010CW front load washer as a "play washer", and wanted to modify it. This model does not come with the forced water circulation, but the pump filter housing and the door boot have the knockouts for them. I want to modify the washer to have the water circulation. Here is my thought on how to do so as "automatically" as possible.

Since the circuit board is not provisioned for such connections, I'm thinking I could just tap into the door lock circuit which I believe is 120 volts. The LG service manuals don't exactly confirm this, so I am going to check it out with my volt meter tonight when I get home. I think it has 3 wires going to the door lock switch, so that might stump me a bit. Now where is that volt meter...

The LG circulation pump that fits this pump housing is 120v, 35 Watts, rated for continuous operation. When the door lock is activated, this will complete the 120 volt circuit to the door lock and circulation pump motor if I tap into this circuit. My thought is that the circuilation pump would start as soon as I start the cycle, when the door locks. It would be active for the entire wash and rinse cycles until the cycle ends, and the door unlocks - shutting off the circulation pump.

Any electrial experts here who could chime in and possibly share any insight on my "project washer" plan? Robert? :) I will upload a photo of the wiring schematic tonight - Why didn't I just buy a model with the forced water circulation? I already have a LG WM2233HW as my primary washer, and this WM2010CW was just a cheap "toy washer". :-)

Thanks!
Andrew
