Whirlpool Imperial Seventy washer
model LA7800XP
1986 or 1987

In the last 20 years I'm installed two pumps. This time I want to be careful that it's the pump because they have gotten expensive. How can I be sure that the pump is broken? If I remove it can I test it?

Also is there an easy way to drain the transmission and refill it or should I just leave it alone? I don't have any specialty tools for appliances.
