jim the trucker came thru again, delivering this beautiful old frigidaire custom model to me last nite about 2 a.m.

it was given to me by a friend from this site in new orleans and jim gave me a great delivery rate and delivered it without a hitch! he is wonderful! i highly reccomend him for anyone wanting to ship long distance! and he goes all over the country!

this machine is a lower end model and i think that's great! i love the b.o.l. models as much as any fancy machines!

my friend told me it runs fine and i'm going to give it a quick look over and roller cleaning and give it a whirl, probably tomorrow!

here are some pics for anyone interested.

love the control dial

it's a twp speed and has 2 cycles, regular and delicate. it has the time fill and you can set the dial for more or less fill time.

it has a water temp control switch

but not a motor speed control switch like the custom deluxe models. the wash and spin speed of the two speed motor is automatically set by choosing the cycle wanted.

i'm sorry, this one is a deluxe' model, not a "custom' model as i said above.

the model no. is wa-2L

i like the simpleness of it

such as the plain lid without any washing instructions printed on it.

i know this one is later than a 65 because i peeked under the cabinet and it has the later model ball support mechanism, not the black rubber one's used on the 65's.

not sure what year this one is, if anyone knows?????

the tub is in good shape

no rust at all, but there are some scratches at the top rim as evident in this pic.

think i will take some appliance touch up epoxy paint and tint it light blue and touch up these areas with it.

i am trying to figure out how the top inner rim of the tub got scratched like that but it doesn't matter really. i love this machine and am very grateful to the friend who gave it to me!

it will feel right at home here next to my other rollermatics.

this is most probably the last

rollermatic for me, although i do know of another for sale.

my next step is to get them all placed in my living room area and then paint the room to celebrate the uniqueness and beauty of these wonderful rollermatic washers! i'm going to use bright colors and paint the floor to match!

i don't have a "house" anymore anyway, not by normal standards so i'm gonna get festive here! my goal is to be all done by the end of the year.

i hope to have this little washer running by tomorrow nite!

Hey Pete, glad your Rollermatic arrived safely. It's a good looking washer, had several neighbors who had this style at one time. There was a Frigidaire dealer a few blocks away.

Even without Ben stating what year the L series was, I was going to say 1967 anyway b3ecause pf the DPC ensignia on the panl. That was the first year for the Durable Press Care ensignia. And a nice machine in nice shape. New Orleans huh? Hmm. Because of the glare, what is the water temp combo above the warm wash/cold rinse--hot wash cold rinse or cold wash cold rinse? I think a friend of mine in jr. High School had this same washer and matching gas dryer.

Be sure to seal-off the rubber plug at the top of the balance ring----after you look at it real good to check for integrity.
I am suspicious of what caused those marks on the balance ring.

I have one of those as well. Wanted it just because it is a BOL "diaper washer". They were all over the place, back in the day. A nice example of Rollermatic history.

Congratulations on finding this treasure!

That thing is almost like Mother's old one. I have not set my eyes on anything like this in nearly 20 years! Mother's was Avacado Green, and the planel was black, I think it was the Deluxe model, it was a single speed. God I loved it, we were so stupid for getting rid of it, it only had a bad timer.

It's interesting to note that my '67 Rapidry has this same lid with no instructions printed on it, mine has the rubber seal that goes around the rim, keeps things quiet at higher rpm's.

Pete, I think you're probably the Rollermatic King of this site now, I can only think of one person who may have more of them than you do.

thanks everyone!

3 times now i have written this long reply and i've f****d it up everytime. i just finsihed writing a novel then deleted it by accident! one more time then i quit! not correcting spelling mistakes here either like i usually do. i'm about ready to throw a little faggot fit as i so fondly call them! and i can throw good ones, believe me!

walt, your wringer works again, don't know what happened but it works great! i use it all the time! glad to know one of the 3 rollermatics you gave me is the same model! i love BOL models for some reason, maybe their simplicity or their lack of prestige, i guess i relate to BOL! maybe i'm BOL. who knows, who gives a sh*t, right!

anyway was gonna call you but don't have a phone, had a disagreement with cinti bell and i told em to politely shove their phone so they cut me off. oh well!!! like not havin one in a way. will get one again, someday!

other comments here, thanks for the info on it bein a 67! very glad to know that for personal reasons that i will explain in a later post sometime. 1967 was the most pivitol year of my life.

just cleaned it up and tried it out and it runs great and sounds great, purrs like a kitten! bearings sound new! NO RUST UNDERNEATH AT ALL! NO LEAKS! well it does have a water bellows leak cause i disconnected the pump an ran a hose from it out my front door and it does continually drain a bit. when water is in tub. but i have extra water bellows and oil bellows and just bought 5 spin shaft seals and even a mechanism support so i will have all 5 rollermatics running like new!

i do have 6 rollermatics thanks to this site and the people here but one will be a parts machine as the tub has pretty much disintegrated. it looks like it flew aprt during a rapidry spin. want to post pics when i start on it, it is very odd looking. walt (18 mill st) remarked about it's unique damage when i got it from him, gaping holes!

the wash temp setting is hot wash in that blurry photo.
it has hot/cold, hot/warm, warm/warm, and warm/cold. we had a cold war back in the 60's but not a cold wash!

melvin as i said that whirlpool front loader is yours! i just need more time to get organized first before you come get it. but am looking forward to you coming down. thanks again for that great portable whirlpool direct drive and the speedqueen. love that stainless tub. will post pics of them all soon, not to forget that little hotpoint! it runs, i tried it out!

as for rollermatic king, we all have our favorites. mine just happen to be rollermatics and old kitchenaids. i've never felt like there is any competition with anyone here, i just happen to be blessed with finding 6 this year! there have to be more out there, if i can do it anyone can! shirley masclaine would say to think it into reality, make it happen, marilyn would say to wish harder than anyone else. whatever, it certainly did for me! i'm very grateful to everyone who helped me!

after reading the comment about my having a lot of rollermatics i did decide to change my name from soberleaf to rollermatic. will start the process here tonite, phasing out old profile. why not, i love those machines and have learned quite a bit about them by tearing into the one i dropped this summer! maybe it was supoosed to drop off that truck. it did motivate me to take it compelely apart! and it is coming along fine, just bought the new stainless steel bolts for the mechanism support today and 2 more cans of royal blue paint for the outer tub interior.

i am painting it royal blue in memory of matt's dog (everythingold) who recently passed away due to a stroke. i was very sad to hear that, still am, it hurts, he was so cute when i went up there this summer and picked up my first rollermatic (and about 10 dishwaahsrs). it makes me sad to even think about it. so royal blue it is! and matt, hope time is healing your loss. i love dogs better than most people!

oh yea, the man in the photo of me as a kid is my uncle jess who first taught me to tear things apart and fix them, and who bought me my first dishwasher, an old hotpoint that was found at a local plumbing co. he paid 10 bucks for it and it kept me busy all of summer 1969 and well into 1970!

that's all for now, i've rambled enough here, now lets get this damn thing posted before i delete it again!

just got a new phone thru time warner, bundled with my internet and actually got cable put in too (although they can't get it to work yet). will call you soon, have unlimited long distance.

wanted to tell you i tore apart the 2nd rollermatic you gave me last nite! the one you said is identical to the one in this thread.

tub came out easily, no hassle! bellows both look good as new! water seal looks a tad worn but i'm gonna go with it for now, even tho i just bought 5 water seals from a friend here.

inner and outer tubs are in great shape! much better than the custom imperial! gonna paint outer tub this week however.

this one has no top so i'm gonna go with it topless! the top lid of the outer water container is there and when painted it will look great! i found a timer for it from a friend on the web if i want it. i might do this one manual tho, using switches, not sure yet. got lots of ideas for it, it will look cute when done! outer cabinet is rusted more than i wanna look at so i'm gonna paint it something wild! this one is from 1967 so i'll so i'll do it up "mod"!

will post pics soon.

Uh Huh... Thats like Gordon saying "Well, that's enough Kenmores for me" or Geoff saying "Another wringer? No, I couldn't possibly..." LOL!!! You'll find another one someday that will catch your eye...

That is a snazzy washer. I can't wait to see it cleaned up and washing. Some video, perhaps? Never having seen one in the real, how different is the mechanism from the 1-18 model like I have?
